Should've focused more on sizing, I see alot of beginners with frames and bars that are too big or too small and they just don't look comfortable or natural, same with not knowing where to set their seat height for the type of riding they're doing.
In the 1980s $225 was equal to approximately $500 in today’s current value due to the inflation index. In other words, the $225 Redline WAS $500. I was born in ‘71. We were broke as hell in the 80s. I rode a Diamondback I bought second hand from a wealthier friend and schoolmate for $100, and that about broke the bank. No upgrades, I rode what he had. If something broke, we fixed our rides ourselves like a patchwork quilt with stuff we’d buy (when we could) and trade (if we could) with other kids in the neighborhood. I got some yellow Tuff Wheels by trading my old Crosman power master 760 pellet gun for them.
when your getting your first bike just spend a tiny bit more and get the fit or Sunday they will last forever and the geo on their bikes are pretty close to an actual bike weather street trails park
I'm not a bmxer but I have to say that's a lot of good sense. If only mtb and road bike shops had the same pragmatic approach. There's too much dogma in cycling. Great video.
You left out the part where cassettes are actually easier to start on. Backpedaling helps you balance while learning to roll fakie, just as pedaling while rolling forward when you're first learning to ride a bike helps you balance. In the long run though, once you're better, freecoasters can help if you ride street because it eliminates an extra step thus opening up windows to more technical riding. You can still be tech with a cassette though like you guys said. Mark Burnett, Simone Barraco, Chase Dehart, Yumi Tsukuda etc. are all sick with it.
