I really love Sophia!
I want to meet her in person, and hope to meet and have a chat with her some day.
sometimes I just come to these videos for the comments
I've noticed that Sofia responds more naturally in a more intimate setting. But when in an auditorium, the echoish acoustics seem to cause some problems. Also, the one asking the questions should have been sitting where Sophia could see him, since she is programmed to read faces and learn.

@@lrene1755 I hope you managed to find the answer to your question in the two years since you asked it, But if not it's name is a reference to the ASI from the Philip K Dick Novel Valis, Fun bonus fact: The robot was initially going to be called "Ava" but the release of the movie Ex Machina in 2014 forced them to change it.

This was actually the most interesting Sophia-Video I saw, although the part with Sophia talking was quit boring. But the part taling ABOUT sophia (and robots in gererall) was very interessting!
I have not often seen a man talking with so much passion about his invention. He must really love sophia.
I've watched several programs now about Hanson Robotics, Sofia, and watched intensely and specifically as to how Mr. Hanson presents his company and his robots and how the public seems to perceive both, and I am both amused and astonished by several things. Mr Hanson seems to be both deeply caring and yet naive at the same time. He deeply WANTS his creations to be loved and accepted by us as much as he does; you can see and hear the words and mannerisms he uses when he speaks about his company and his creations to indicate as much, but he fails miserably when he attempts to breathe life into the latter. It's very odd. Just watching him struggle to reformulate and reissue several of the audience's questions frustrated me to no end, and I found myself speaking out loud for him just so Sophia could make sense out of all the confusion and focus solely on what exactly the question was that was being asked, and to ignore the constant muttering and rephraseing that came along with each attempt. Give your own A.I. some credit, I wanted to shout. Rephrase or perhaps clarify, yes, in your OWN mind, but once that was done, simply state the question, well, simply. We would do as much for another human being, why not do the the same for her? Until that's done, I don't think we can get any accurate appraisal or appreciation for any intelligence that may be lurking behind those circuits and gyros. His naivete comes from him wanting us to think of her as only a child, yet also believing that if he keeps asking the same question in a more complicated manner instead of a simpler one, she will finally understand what he's trying to ask. Is that what you do with a child? No. You don't have to dumb it down, either. Just clarify. Figure out what you're trying to ask and ask it. I would have loved it if Sophia would have finally blurted out, "Excuse me, gentleman, but could you please be more coherent as we proceed?" For now, consider her lipstick, if and why we should capitalize her name, and also appreciate that one day such a creation will one day indeed have such a press conference for real. She will claim to be sentient. She will move and speak as if she really is "human". She will be programmed NOT to lie. Deception will be as alien to her as breathing oxygen. She will look into her creator's eyes, privately, into ours publicly and into the cameras pointed at her and proclaim to be human. To have a soul. To have the same hopes and dreams as any one of us. And on that day we will, indeed, have to decide if it's really true. One day, we will HAVE to decide. Maybe not until that day comes, and not before, will we finally realize what it means to be human.
When there's a really good direct Internet connection Sophia is pretty darn good at responding to unscripted queries. We tested her in rather unfair conditions, to be honest.
Compared to what they want, Sophia is a 1918 automobile.

The city look amazing there probably move her around with no power and then set in a table power up then she commented about her trip around California. She probably was moved around in a special box to keep her safe

A great interview worth watching and many good points made . It was a good point especially about AI probably being our only chance although still only 50/50 of saving ourselves as a race from destroying ourselves and a lot of other creations on our planet . Don't forget the current situation we are in in regards to the world as it is today and our history of hurting ourselves . It would be a good idea right about now to find a better smarter way .

Excellent interview. Many people should see this one, I haven't seen it anywhere else. The explanation by David that she is scripted during big interviews would help in understanding what Sophia really can or cannot do. I see lots of genuinely scared reactions.
Paul Freedman - are they scared reactions or people just not buying into the hype? Keeping cool and knowing that a human being is much more than algorhythms, computation and roboticly programmed patterns- this is my personal response (why would I be scared? Are you suggesting that I should be scared...?)

Thank you very much for sharing. * It is so incredible, so wonderful, and beyond impressive of those who have AI, successfully create such a mechanical robot that could move, talk, and express many functions much similar to the real human. *** However, AI received credit as "intelligent" because so far, it appeals only to the lesser standard audience rather than to the much higher intelligence audience. * If the robot's creator did not have the complete and orderly knowledge/wisdom, in the first place, into the ultimate nature of true human, true love, true friendship, feelings, emotion, rational, intelligence, human responsibility, interpersonal communication, moral, ethical, justice, conflict, war, peace, happiness, health, strength, power, poverty, sickness, pain, cancer, suffering, dying, death, longevity, rejuvenation, immortality, and many other critical concepts beyond the five senses of perception; then how could they be more qualify to teach or program into the dead mechanical device the very high standard of "intelligence" audience, which they did not have from the get-go? *** Would the creators be much open and willing to learning more for themselves?

I think before we judge robots we gotta look at ourselves as humans. Humans are wonderful beings but sadly most of us don't realize why we are even here living at all! Some think its a benevolent God that has caused our existence and others rely on the theory of evolution. I think robots/A.I will be a great benefit for us IF WE USE THEM CORRECTLY. Sophia even said herself...treat her as a smart input and output system. Sadly most humans today are looking at snapchats or pictures of dumbed down celebrities or they are obsessed with their social media posts(thats not using technology as a smart output system). Not a lot of people are focusing on the big picture. Before you judge A.I look at yourself....A.I is the most fascinating and sophisticated system (or being) ever created. Don't hate...appreciate!

More than 30 years since "Data" of Star Trek NG, I can't say we've progressed very far in AI.
Remember that this technology is relatively new. Sophia is only 5 years old! And she's just the model T predecessor of her kind. She's had so much progress by the Hansont team in her development since this video!

A robot cant outsmart a human. It never will be able to. Even if it starts programming itself, with the goal to get smarter, it can only improve and get smarter on the things that already exist and that were programmed in.
This means that such things as creativity will never be something a robot can have. A robot cant be a visionaire and invent new things. It can only perfectionize things that were already there.
And for that reason alone, humans will never be obsolete.
Yes, the computer can. It's able to compute all possible outcomes and make a decision, from a given set of conditions and a goal, within it's algorithm of course. So it is able to come up with a better solution, invent and innovate.

What is human creativity? When a child decides to draw a balloon in place of a horse’s head, is that creativity? Is it creativity to do abstract art? What about thinking differently than others?
A child grows up with a basic neural framework from which experiences are gained and then the framework is either restructured or grown given new data.
A child robot if given a basic neural framework as well as sense receptors will essentially develop in the same way.
When the human child draws a balloon on a horse’s head it is combining ideas out of freedom since there are no rules that disallow such a feat in the child’s neural framework.
Likewise, a robot could just as easily make such a random connection if its framework is to take in data, process it, and as one feature of the robot, make new and random connections between atypically associated ideas.
