I would say New York is a lot safer than what people usually assume to be. As long as you avoid going out alone at night in certain areas and stuff, it would be pretty safe.

Make connections! I think it's with everything but working with people you can collaborate is most important. Agency and office environment can allow for mixture of creative ideas and different reviews.
