What a GREAT video to share in addition to my own demo videos! High school students absolutely think their vases MUST look like the shape they see in the museum. Thank you for making these videos!
I've been trying to make the vase you have at 00:34! I can not get the shape to save my life. It either falls when I try to shape the bottom or when I try to choke the clay in at the top :(
I watch your vids and I can't help but hear Bob Ross saying, "There's a potter... right there..... is it a happy little potter? It's certainly a DIRTY LITTLE POTTER!!!!!! Dirty... little.... potters....". bWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!
Were you taught in school like one pound clay balls for vases needed To be 3 wide and 8 tall or you were not doing it right? I still weigh my clay and always try to get as much height and width etc out. I don’t want to trim it all off I want to use that clay. It’s hard to find videos where one shows how tall a vase should be with five pounds (yes it varies with width also, and belly size etc. was always told that larger vases should look like they weigh a ton but in reality when you pick it up it doesn’t weigh much at all, (unless you’re using 30 or more pounds of clay,). But with that amount of clay the item should look like it weighs 150 or more. Just what my hs and college professor taught me. I still use it today but I don’t see anyone else do this so, is this old school and not used any more?
i'm not a potter or doing any pottery class but your videos are so fun and enjoyable. thank you for making them

I think your videos are amazing! They are really helpful during lockdown. How much clay did you use in making the beginners vase, please
I don't know, I almost never weigh my clay but if I had to guess it probably be about 4 or 5 lb
How much clay do you use to make a vase like the one in your first vase video? Humm?
