- In this video, I and Mr. Sew through time get dressed in daytime fashion from 1882. I go through all the different layers involved in both female and male clothing.
I made my clothing other than the vintage stockings and the antique cape I'm wearing. if you want to know more about how the clothes and the corset were made you can find the videos here:

Just wonderful, and thank you for showing us both genders. I always hoped the male silhouette was as elegant as I had seen in the old papers and or magazines. Beautifully presented by you both. 😊
I love your videos. I’m really into historical dress. Victorian culture fascinates me, and that includes fashionable silhouette of the time. And you both do honestly look very elegant together
Thanks 🥰
This. Is. Amazing!!! There’s most definitely not enough content on menswear of the era. And this is coming from a young gentleman who dresses in 1880s-1920’s menswear 24/7.
"i come with my own padding.." 👏 😂😂 I do, too, and I love it 🔥
🤷😂😂😂
I adore your videos. Your fashion is gorgeous and informative.
Thanks 😊
Very enjoyable video. I like how you also explained the context - how their days would look, the differences between classes, …
Oh I loved the male and female perspective
My grandfather wore one style of shoe his whole life. He liked a shoe made of kangaroo leather which laced up half way up the calf. Since he walked a lot on unpaved country roads i imagine this kind of shoe was most practical.
You both look very elegant 😻
Thank you! 😊
This particular gentleman looked quite handsome in his daywear! I understand all the reasons why men no longer dress this way (except for some fabulous exceptions) but we've sure lost something... The dress we've already seen before and it continues being lovely!
The menswear is such an interesting addition! You don't see much historical menswear on TH-cam so it was really informative! Also every time I see the bib I remember the opening scenes from Disney's Peter Pan animated film lol. Really enjoyed this video!
This is fabulous. Love the side by side guide through the layers.
I wish there was more content like this on TH-cam
Loved this! Especially with the addition of menswear! 🤗
Detachable celluloid collars were easily detached and cleaned, making the collars popular with bachelors
Absolutely wonderful !! Thank you for letting me know about your TH-cam. I appreciate the explanation of the differences between the Frock coat and Sack coat.
Your partner is very funny! Very nicely done with the double frame.
The men's attire is really constructed to make their lives comfortable. Not a single worry about the shape of a wrong silhouette, no corsets, and I bet, enough spacious pockets.
Your videos are so inspiring! I hope I can sew a set for my fianceé so we can match as lovebirds like you two ♥
This was so cute - hopefully we will get to see more of your historical date looks - 💖
😊Great video. 👏👏👏👏👏👏
Totally cute couple
Everybody knows that now is the time that I walk through my neighborhood, to show everyone in the neighborhood that I’m the the main character in this neighborhood. Yes the main one, look
Or however that song went
People don’t change much do they lol
Her was the video
My 11-year-old son said you remind him of Mary Poppins.
I’m quite sorry to nitpick, but he put on his collar stud backwards 😂.
Well well well, what a coincidence to find you here
@@aLavenderLady😂
Yeah we noticed that after filming 😂
I absolutely love the clothes but i not envy, especially the Ladies, for wearing all those layers and putting them on every day😅
Men have just as many layers and they are thicker 😅
@@sewthroughtime Well yes that's true, i would go insane but that's propably only bc i never dressed like this
@@redheadkitty1109 honestly it isn't as hot as you'd think, they act as insulation and keep your temp even
You clearly never used natrual fibers
@@AnniCarlsson Well i always wear linen in the summertime and like i've already said i've never wore clothes like this so i can't really say anything about it, i only said that all the layers would make me insane and that's my opinion
So. Many. Clothes. But maybe without central heating I would have been glad. Except in summer . . . . . .
Lots of victorian homes have central heating
So why do you think they use layers in Sahara if it not working. Dress off there is deadly. And natrual fibers. Stop with plastic if you want to feel cool
@@sewthroughtimeI'm glad to know that.
brooch was and is pronounced broach (rhymes with roach)
not in all dialects.
