Thanks! I thought I had a fondant smoother and I just discovered I don't! It's already 9:30pm and the store is closed and I have to do the cake now. This helps tons, great idea!! Hopefully it will work for me lol.
Thanks for sharing your talent and secrets in making a nice fondant cake...it seems that you have made such a wonderful fondant and it's easy to manage.
Brilliant thanks! Getting ready to teach a class on painting on the side of fondant and forgot to get everyone fondant smoothers! This is really helpful!
This is so Wow!! You won't believe that can't find fondant smoother by sharing this information you help me a lot will use this strategy to smooth the cake ...thanks sisie
Thank you for posting this, I'm making my daughters bday cake and the decorating kit I bought didn't come with a fondant smoother I thought it did 🤦🏼♀️ now I don't have to get one separately
@hahsnarik if you keep the fondant covered cake in the fridge & then take it out it will be sticky to touch. Fondant absorbs moisture so if there is a lot humidity around that's what it does. It's meant to set hard on the outside of the cake but still remain soft on the side that is touching the inside of the cake. I dont make my fondant I buy it so i'm not sure what else the problem might be. Mixing extra icing sugar just makes it drier not wet. Sorry cant be more of a help ; )
@BlueAmina25 I'm sorry I'm just starting to show quick clips that I do in the construction of the cakes. I video record from my small handheld photo camera so am doing things 1 handed in the videos. Until I have a proper video camera set up to film me I wont be able to do proper tutorial videos where I can use both my hands. There are already other great videos on youtube that show how to put on fondant. Thank you so much for the interest - I will try to keep sharing tips with you guys ; ).
@jamescatania in my country (Montenegro) i can buy 5kgs for 10Euros.... Which is very cheap! I used to live in Australia where it is about 5$AUD for 250grms. Bulk is better, and i found that going through a bakery supplier works out cheaper. Fondant can be kept indefinitely as long as you store it correctly.
@weddingcakesforyou Thank you Lorelie! I'm so sorry I was meant to get back to you months ago in regards to that email interview & forgot about it! Please message me if you are still interested ; )
A real shame someone wasn't there to hold the camera for the demonstration. Interesting info but think before you speak as there were far too many 'um's'! That makes it difficult to follow for the listener, thanks you have a real talent.

Ur method helped me lots I am making a wedding cake and I didn't have a cake smoother so thx so much
@prettypinkdress139 I use swiss merange buttercream to fill my cakes. Fondant tastes really sweet - it's more for decorating than taste.

thank you very very very very much. you have no idea how helpful this is.
@angeleyes3250 The fondant sticks to the cake because of the butter cream layer which is sticky : )
That's a great idea, will try it for my next cake... thanks for sharing!!
I made my first fondant cake and used your technique to smooth it out! Thanks,. I blogged about it too.
@OTTAVIA99 I do it until i'm happy that it's smooth enough - about a few minutes. It's easier if the fondant layer is thicker too.
have you ever had a case where the fondant has stuck to the cake when ur trying to smooth it??
your cakes are awesome, mcuh appreciated for you vids :)
@rareyellowdiamond I dont freeze the cake so I'm not sure ; )
