How do you keep your hands from getting stung a lot while handling without gloves?? I like the idea of handling the bees like that, but want to avoid that part of it. I'm also trying to learn HOW to spot the queens.

Great video Darrel. I was called to a couple of so called swarms last season and when I got there found the bees embedded in the roof of a house. Both cases, a pest controller had advised to leave alone for a few days and they will go away.
Bad advise from someone who should have known better. I could have helped if called there on day 1.

it seems to be first swarm of the hive and it is almost upto 10 days to be here.

Ok, you are freeking nuts! lol....I have been keeping honeybees for just over a year. I have done one cutout, and caught a couple of swarms. I always have my suit on. Gloves and all. It makes me cringe watching you cup hands full of bees and dump them in the box with your bare hands. lol.....I'm just a woos I guess. Nice job though, and great job mom on filming!

The same thing happened with us last year. We thought we were about to catch a swarm and the already had 3 sections of comb drawn and eggs.

had a wooden wedge under the bar grove could squeeze the comb on the wedge. Work just fine CANT DO HONEY COMB or Brood unless its dry like that is

Yes they had started building comb
Yes, that I saw. There were several pieces there. But it seemed to me you pulled off what looked to be a whole piece (straight across the top where it had been hung off the wood) and then there was another piece hanging where it had been of 1-2" more. a few minutes later it seemed that in spite of you having taken more off, there was more there than had been there. Must have been illusion but it was funny!
