Bought MINI-MK3 keyboard and it is not working as expected. I press the SHIFT and only 2 orange and 1 green pads light up/ This is not what I saw in the tutorial vid. Cannot change modes with SHIFT. I tried to contact Novation 3 times and they completely ignorred it. No response of any kind. Tried the factory reset, but no luck.

Hello friend, I would like to help you, but for me it is very difficult since I do not have the mk3, I have the mk1, my pads do not turn on unless I am receiving midi from my software, which in this case is ableton, suddenly your controller is fine, but You haven't configured it correctly in the DAW, I send midi notes from my keyboard to the DAW, but the DAW sends midi to the pads that way they turn on, I recommend using it in ableton since it is a controller designed for ableton

I'm totally new at this and lost! I bought a Novation launchkey MK3 61 and I'm using Ableton 10 Lite. I downloaded the Standalone features in to it thinking that I was supposed too! Now I can't get back to the original settings that came with the controller, when I turn it on it automatically comes on in custom modes and I don't want that! How do I reverse this??I want to learn to use it the original way it came?
hello, you just have to deactivate the remote option from the MIDI configuration in ableton, it is difficult to help you here but you can look for some video on youtube of how to configure your controller

hi, thanks for commenting, the advantage of working with ableton is that you can work with linear audio in the "arrangement" view like other software, or work by clips, which can be loops or one shots, through the "session" view. .. I have some buttons on the controller to navigate between the channels, and the sustain pedal is mapped to activate the recording, a simpler option is to use the native plugin "looper" from ableton

how can i find loops for using ableton
Hello, I would not know how to answer your question exactly, there are many pages where you can find samples for free or for purchase, in my case as you see in the video I prefer to create them

@@nathanbailey9271 I really did not have to map almost anything, as the novation launchkey is made to work with ableton saves you a lot of work, there are two buttons "" to navigate between the tracks and automatically arms them to record, I was in charge of choosing the sounds before I was going to use, and I activate the recording when pressing the sustain pedal, when I release the pedal it stops recording
@@mikebello_music What I'm curious about was you recording a drum part, then layering another drum sound later in the same "loop"...i do i re-record into a previously closed loop like that?
@@TheWoodenZozimos Yes, you can record previously armed loops, and superimpose voices of the same midi instrument by means of the "session record button"

Another option for audio channels is through the "looper" effect.

Thanks friend, that's right I've been playing keyboards for a while, in fact I'm a keyboardist in a rock band in my city, I don't know much about electronic rhythms, I just mixed a little folk percussion from my land with what I thought would sound good
@@mikebello_music I knew it. That confidence you have on the keys could only come from playing on a stage. Would you be able to play live with the setup in your video, or do you have hardware synths? I play electric guitar in rock band and I was thinking of picking up a new compact launchkey 37 to have something at home to record with. Your video makes me think a bigger one would be nice. You used that Novation to pull quite a bit of sound out of that laptop in that short performance.
@@retroloungemusic I don't use hardware synthesizers when playing live with my band, I think that "for me" it's more comfortable to use midi controllers and virtual synths or sample libraries, since it's easier for me to program my set from my laptop, although I know that most he prefers to rely on hardware, they are different ways of working and each one has its pros and cons. The novation launchkey makes it much easier for me to work in Ableton, since it is made to work in Ableton, all its controls are synchronized with the software or you can assign them to any parameter you prefer.
@@mikebello_music That is amazing. This video demonstration really shows off your skills, your creativity, the capability of the keyboard controller, and Ableton. I understand that Ableton is designed to do this, but I've never seen anybody shoot a video like you did, over your shoulder displaying the laptop, keyboard, and showing exactly what you are doing, real time. It seems every other video on TH-cam is just cycling through different shots and angles of somebody playing on mini controller and laptop, in strange locations (even outside) while bobbing their head around like they are grooving to it. Its always some kind of R&B type "beat", and they all might as well be playing the same one. They certainly aren't actually making the beat, they are just hamming it up for the camera shots. Your video really stands out from most, and so does your music. I hope you are still doing this kind of thing, I definitely would like to hear more.

Hi, the plugging is "wavetable"... It's a native synth in Ableton 10 or later

What laptop configuration supports this midi keyboard
Hello, any laptop that has a USB port, you can even connect it to a phone with an OTG cable, my laptop is quite old, it is a 2011 macbook

No bro, it is being powered via usb, the DC connection is only when you plan to use the controller with a synthesizer, sampler, or any other machine other than a computer

@@salvadorgutierrez5035 Hola nuevamente Salvador, pasa que no uso Logic, realmente no lo se usar, soy usuario de Ableton Live, se que en Logic o en cualqueir DAW tambien se puede hacer lo mismo pero yo no tengo conocimiento de como se hace, por otro lado en Ableton es muy sencillo mapear cualquier funcion a tu controlador, ya que en la parte superior derecha hay un boton que dice "midi" solo basta apretarlo, veras en tu pantalla que todo lo "controlable" se coloca de color azul, solo seleccionas que parametro del programa quieres controlar y mueves en tu controlador la perilla, fader o boton con el que quieres controlarlo y listo! es asi de sencillo
