@@ReadytoRunRC also if your wheels are all aluminum sealed with proline hyrax wheels no foams, fill them with water. yes water it sounds crazy i know. im running it that way and just wow its worth a try. im the only person i ever heard of even trying it. the wheels stick like crazy its a monster.

I have the same wheel weights with those tiny hub screws. A dab of hot glue around the nut secures it pretty well. Unless I remove it, the tires don't fall off anymore. Awesome climb!!
I put some loctite on after I rebuilt it. I should’ve done that to begin with but I didn’t think they would spin off so easy. I’m getting ready to conquer the dam very soon. Waiting on the weather. Thanks for checking out the video.
@@frankm3867 that’s all part of the hobby. It was pretty minimal for the broken parts. I already had axles on the way. I just really had to replace the brass wheel weights which isn’t too expensive.
Thanks. I’ve tried and tried and just can’t find the secret to climbing this thing. No major repairs from this climb or any of the other tries after. I’ve been lucky so far.
Awesome video man, You may want to remove the double barrels from the front so the nose stays down. Also look into overdrive gearing for the front axle so the truck is pulling itself up. The KR3 tires are also wide with a lower side profile and seem to grip concrete well. I had my truck set up pretty similar to yours intially and then did these changes recently and my deadbolt climbs vertically very well now. Cheers 🍻
The double barrels are off. Took them off right after this because of the nose lifting too high. I have heard that about the KR3’s and am looking at getting a set. Thanks for the input. Appreciate it. 🍻

I was shocked when I saw how little the damage was. Just a couple things to replace and it’s all good. I was expecting broken shocks, a body half ripped off, maybe a few busted suspension links. It came down off that dam so fast. I wanted to catch it but didn’t when I saw how fast it was coming.
That was a valiant attempt and it did surprisingly well in the tumble down I thought there would be more damage thanks for the video it was entertaining 🤘✌️

I went halfway up the first time to film the beginning shot with the drone and then backed all the way down to film the climb from bottom to top. I think they loosened up on that first climb. I’m going to try some blue loctite to secure them a little better. I have no doubt I’ll make it next time once I get my fix it parts.

We are heading into winter here in PA and it’s been getting colder these past couple weeks. I’m basically waiting on the replacement stuff to get here and I can get right back to it.

Yeah I actually made it halfway up to film that intro with the drone and then came back down and restarted from the bottom to film the climb to the top. I think what I’m going to do for the next climb is switch the double barrels with regular treal shocks. That will limit the amount of travel too. I don’t have a front bumper. I took it off when I did the 4 link conversion. I’ll get it to the top next time.

Just the 2 wheels broke off the axle. Not sure what the magnet would be for. I found the wheels and replaced the broken axles. I am planning on upping the speed on my next scx24 build. I'm building a mofo monster truck this summer.

I use a dab of thin CA glue on the metal to metal threads .. its not as strong as threadlock, but still does the job and you don't have to worry about striped heads when taking the screws out later.
@@mb9996 It did take that tumble pretty well. I was expecting more things broken as fast as that came down. I have some CA glue too and think I will either use that or just a small dab of blue loctite for the next attempt.
@@ReadytoRunRC i have 3 scx 24s and have always used CA for metal to metal on the threads , and its always held. I haven't stripped a single head out. It can work on some plastics as well as a filler for stripped holes. Only thing is use it very sparingly for metal to metal as it doesn't take much at all to do the trick (surprisingly small amount of ca).
I bet HR +4mm axles or the extended hex’s would allow you to turn around on the wall. I can do circles on inclines I could barely even turn on before with those hot racing axles (and the 5G weights you can get for them)
With just the 5 mm extended hex’s it still couldn’t but since this video I added the HR +4 mm axles along with the extended hex’s and it does sidewall without flipping. I just got the brass beadlock rings to switch out the aluminum ones with to add even more lcog weight.
Might struggle with the extra height the mud singers will give you, I'm having zero grip issues with rock creepers on mine and I have way less mods done to my (red) Deadbolt
I'll be getting something else. The Rok Lox don't grip that good and they are like one of the smallest diameter tires RC4WD has for the 1.0's. I will look into the Km3's.
Wow i was seen and tripped out on in Colorado for kayaking to the dam police,FBI , and state i guess since 9/11 its seen as a act of well you know ! That scared me but this looks like fun ...
You think that's crazy I had that once happened to me in real life while I was driving by Integra very very fast..... too much camber I guess my transmission cracked open letting all my transmission fluid out over my tires I have left on the car and I spun out on the freeway doing about 145 crashed into a wall and had to repair and repaint my integra but now I don't have any special suspension parts any because the got Destroyed in the accident...

For your next trick I dare you to try and drive your Axial across a busy 8 lane highway.

I don’t have mud slingers on it. I don’t plan on putting them on either. I do have mud slingers but I bought those for when I build a rock bouncer.
I would suggest loctite on the wheel nuts because all the vibration from the climb itself
I learned the loctite lesson with this climb. I put some on when I replaced the broken parts.

You don't have to go fast to have your wheel nuts loosen themselves.

I work for the company that owns this dam and am part of the maintenance crew so I have a few privileges and access to wherever I want.
