U are very fortunate to have a grandma who can sign with. I grew up in mainstream school and my grandparents don’t know nothing about ASL. Sometimes we use body gestures to explain or express our conversation. Love your videos and keep up the great job
I love this. I'm 70. I grew up in a time & place where having a hearing loss was to be a freak. I learned not even to be self-aware. I was hard of hearing, but I didn't even have hearing aids. My parents were concerned that I might be bullied. I love your grandma. She seems so sweet and a great support for you.
I love that your grandma signs. I'm Deaf too, live with my grandma and my son. My son is hearing and signs but my grandma refuse to learn and I don't want to force her but we just don't have easy communication because I don't speak and she doesn't sign. She does get annoyed by this sometimes but I still try my best with her.
thats so painful 😔 it's as if saying, "i don't really care enough to learn to speak with you". i'm not saying that that's what's going on, but that's how i felt when reading that 😢 if anything, that would make me enroll into a class right away.
@@briattnybrittany6843 that's exactly what it is. She cares but to her sign language doesn't benefit her directly. She doesn't think she will get enough praise for her to learn for it to matter and she's very much about image with her friends. She she cares about me, just not enough where it really counts and matters. I also grew up in the Foster system and she never cared enough to get me out so there's that. There's love there but it's absolutely conditional and with limits
That is so sweet that she is still learning ASL! My German grandmother learned Norwegian for me when I was born, in case I wouldn’t grow up speaking German in Norway. My mum ended up moving to Germany with me and had raised me bilingually anyway. But it’s so sweet that she made the effort to learn it for me and to make it easier with my Norwegian dad as well. Learning languages is hard and takes a lot of effort and confidence to give it a try 🥰 it means a lot when family members or friends put in the effort to learn your language. Whether that be signing or a spoken language.
Such a beautiful video. Your granny makes signing seem so easy. I understood most of her signs. I took ASL in college. Im very rusty but I really want to start learning again.
For CI you have much better chances for it to work if you do it while the child is still really young, because their brain are adaptable. That's why it is still done with parental approval. I am not saying it is the way to do it, just explaining why it can't be done later in life
Can u pretend to be a white person when u were born black? So, why should a D/deaf person try to pretend to be hearing person when they get cochlear implants? I, myself, am profoundly Deaf and am proud of it.
@@GiantTorpedoes as I said, I am not saying it is the way to do things In the video they are saying parents should wait for the child to consent to it. I am explaining why the procedure cannot really wait until you are 18 or older to consent to it. It can be tried, of course, but will not work as well or at all and cause complications.
@@GiantTorpedoes actually, I agree with you. I don't believe parents should be allowed to make that decision. But I also understand the science behind why it is done so young.
Amazing video. I didn't realise your dad was deaf too and all your siblings. Most deaf or hard of hearing people come from hearing families, and can be a lonely experience for them. 👂💗
Hi Cbeyenna, I was wondering how much you pay attention to the sign language compaired to lip reading because I can see you look at her face instead of her hands. And maybe also how you do it in general with people who don't sign?
i’m not her, but in sign, you want to focus on their face too. their face is what gives more meaning behind signs, and peripheral vision allows you to see everything you need
Loved the video. My daughter is HOH and my son is deaf. We have decided to get him cochlear implants, however, we are also learning ASL so that he can choose what he prefers when he is older. Unfortunately, waiting until a child is old enough to consent to CI's provides an enormous set back if your goal is for them to talk at a level of their hearing peers. But everything is personal to your families goals! Love your videos!
Just remember it’s a hearing aid on the inside. It’s really the only difference. And , speaking is a talent. Just like playing the piano. Some can and some can’t.
Grandma is a cutie. SEE is better than not learning sign for your kid, in my opinion. At least she knows ASL would be better but communication is the most important thing.
Eye contact is very important when signing. Peripheral vision is used to understand signs and is very easy (unless there is a DeafBlind individual with a more restrictive field of vision).
as I understand it ASL is a different language with its own grammar, that just shares vocabulary and mouth patterns with spoken english. SEE follows spoken english grammar while using sign, a sort of "signglish"
I honestly kind of love the whispering asmr of a regular conversation...

Aw your grandmother is really sweet❤, and you really look like her
Wow, what a compliment to say Cheyenna and I look alike. She is much prettier than her gran tho🥰👍❤️
I thought the same thing.
Definitely a very strong resemblance!!
Your grandma is a true champion !!!!!!!!!!! You are very , very fortuante to have a very wonderful grandma !!!!!!!!👍👍👍👍😁

This warmed my heart. What a great lady.

Actually.. people who get them later do just as well as babies. Sometimes better because they have language to back up what they are experiencing.
Please do another QnA with your granny, this was so interesting!
Aww Granny is so cute~ 😊 And so nice that she signs with you!

More comfortable to watch which hearing of family use ASL with you is more than awesome. Not much for other deaf grand parents
Your grandmas make up is perfect

My grandma know a little sign language. We are blessed.
OH MY GOD HOW DOES SHE NOT LOOK AT HER GRANDMA HAND AND UNDERSTANDS???
Wow I’m impressed 😂
Gorilla Sangar understanding asl is also from looking at facial expression and stuff
She can read the lips too

Almost 100k subs😄
Great video :)
What is the name of the song that plays at the end?
" is it to much to ask for" by shiloh
Darude sandstorm
Where would I be able to learn ASL?
You could take classes at a community college, or look up, "ASL classes near me"
I teach on line .
I love you😘😍😇
ASMR
You can her grandma talk
what the differences between SEE and ASL
as I understand it
ASL is a different language with its own grammar, that just shares vocabulary and mouth patterns with spoken english.
SEE follows spoken english grammar while using sign, a sort of "signglish"
See stands for “Signing exact English” example: I am going to the store.
In ASL that sentence would just be signed “STORE I GO”
👍👍👍👍👍👍
I wish this vid had more likes !!!
O would like some subtitles :(
There are subtitles 🤗
Does anyone know why hearing people whisper while signing with deaf people? Why don't they just talk?
Who else isn’t deaf and doesn’t understand sign language but still watches her videos?
it has captions
Asmr 2.0
If I ever date a deaf girl I'm just going to write on a iPad to tell her stuff and get her a. iPad also because sign languages seems hard
Then you won’t be dating for long.
Can you put subtitles please
Luísa Cabrita there are subtitles
Go into settings and turn on captions
