    Runs like a Dream ! What a beauty ... only one little thing kept catching my eye .. maybe you can find that thin strip of chrome they used to line the base of the seat. It is such a tasteful design element that Honda had on them. Anyway .... you are a very lucky owner indeed. We all had Hawks and Dreams ... and Triumphs in high school my group anyway ... waaaay back in the mid-sixties. The Dream was super smooth ... I had a 305 Hawk but loved riding my friend's Dream.

    Great looking bike. It is identical to the one I bought new in 1966 from Harder's Honda in Janesville, WI. I was 16 yo and had saved for a long time to afford it. Good for you and enjoy!!!

      I did the same! Bought mine in 1964 at age 16, brand new from Bernardi’s Honda, a mere storefront dealership, in Natick, MA for $506.

    *Would've been great to have the proper 'chain-guard casing' and original exhaustpipes...( originals had 'baffle-rods' in them secured with an external screw) but the machine looks absolutely stunning!* *You go anywhere on this...and there'll be a crowd the minute you park!* ( I saw one a few years ago identical to yours...the owner had found twin leather 'side-bags' in a 'camel-brown' color on 'eBay' and a set of modern 'Honda' turn-signals as well and if he hadn't told me, I would've sworn they were 'original factory options'! The bags were fastened with 'cross-over' straps with adjustable buckles like a watchband with no side-bars and they looked very sharp against the 'Honda Red' paint...and I only wish I could afford a 'resto' like the one you have!) *My first 'motorized anything' was a '68 Honda 'Super Cub' for my 14th. B-day...and I beat hell out of that machine for 3-years until I got a 'hand-me-down' '64 Ford 'Country Squire' wagon when I was 17...and I wish I had them back now!* (that old wagon is worth mucho $$$$$ now, and so is the Honda) ps...it was legal in Nevada to ride a 90cc machine and there was a special license for 'small bikes only' with a helmet law as well.

    I used a degreaser and pressure washed it. Then I used a wire brush to remove the remaining dirt / grease. Then the last step was to use an aluminum paint on the fins. It took a lot of work but was worth it. Good luck on your C200!

    It seems like this would be a good daily driver on the highway concidering the speed limit is only 55 mph. My little 65 Honda S65 63cc bike could do 40 mph fairly easily. I bought a 305 Dream not too long ago about 3/4 restored. You're right, definitely a bike to hold on to. Very easy on the eyes. Mine's not running at the moment. Still figuring that out. Nice job on your restore!

    Very nice restoration i have a honda 90 from the same period its kind of the minibike version of a Dream. With its plastic flared fenders and the built in headlight and speedo it was sold as a street bike and a large marketing Point was it got fantastic mileage. Ive heard over 100 mpg but ive not seen that myself personally 80 plus yes

    Wow! Sounds like you were a part of a very cool group of Dreams and Hawks! Since making this video I have added a few more bits of chrome and a very nice chrome luggage rack. I will keep an eye out for the chrome strip for the seat, I do know about those however this seat didn't come with one. I sure enjoy riding this Dream, thank you for the comment!

    Hey Matthew, I ride this bike often and I did do a complete restoration so it is pretty reliable. But it's not the fastest bike. You cannot ride them on the highway because now days you'll get ran over on this bike. It's more of a weekend rider. You should absolutely buy that bike and hang on to it, they are really becoming rare and they are an eye catcher! Good luck bro!

    @rich6955 Thank You Rich! Your right, the family history makes it so much more special. I had just recently found out that my uncle got his motorcycle license on this bike 35+ years ago! I will be taking this bike to my Grandpa very soon and will shoot a video of his reaction of seeing it in person. He is chomping at the bit for me to bring it. He may actually ride it, we'll see. I polished every nut and bolt on this bike since they are all JIS bolts. (Japanese Industrial Standard)

    OMG! I had a 1969 175cc that my dad bought for me in high school. This certainly brings back memories (even though it was the second-most unreliable bike I owned but probably because of the way I thrashed her being used to 2-strokes till then). Thanx for the memories!

  • @rockbay79
    @rockbay79 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I owned this same style bike back in the day. Mine was black in color. I'm sure you know this, but at least on the bike I owned, the drive chain was enclosed in a oil splatter-shield. I had to remove it every time I adjusted my chain. I loved that old bike. I bought it used one Summer when I was mowing grass. Bought it as a "barn find" in the shed of a customer that I mowed his yard. I found out later his son was killed in the 1960's in a car crash and the bike was just left to rust away in the old shed. My Dad helped me buy the old bike for $150.00 cash. We brought it home and really cleaned it up. However, it needed tires, tubes, a battery and the carburator rebuilt. So, we took it to our nearby Honda Dealership and they had the little bike running like new in a few days. I rode that bike almost daily from the age of 12 - 14 years old. I rode it to and from Middle School during 7th and 8th grade. I wish I still owned that old bike. A lot of good memories! (A funny side note. The entire time I rode this bike, the electric starter never did work. I had to kick start it every time. It was easy to start and would come to life with just one kick. However, later when I sold the bike to another man, he asked if I owned a hammer, and I said I did. He took that hammer and tapped on the started about 30 seconds, then pushed the starter button and the little bike started right up. He proceded to start/stop the bike several times before leaving. I wish I had known that trick as a kid. :) I bought this bike during the Summer of 1972.
