    The reciever box is not waterproofed. I spent hours in the water then it kept cutting out. Then the reciever quit so I put another reciever and packed it with dielectric grease. Will test it out again

    • @2fmrc
      @2fmrc  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah that’s part of the reason I was surprised it kept running lol. No rubber seals on the receiver box but it kept on kickin! It’s still running fine!

    • @chrismoreau8727

      @@2fmrc I pulled out the reciever blew on it and carried it back down the trial. Then when I got to the street it drove fine all the way back to the car. But I still swapped it out with another redcat reciever I changed out on my everest 10. Didn't want to take a chance of it cutting out again. So she's waterproofed now and will definitely test it in the water again.

    could you tell me where the links are positioned from stock?? im assuming the front are as far forward as possible to give the best approach angle.. but the back im really wondering about.. I have the Wendigo.. I like it its nearly the same truck.. but the rear links are different.. the pinion is 17 tooth where the marksman is 9t.. n the Wendigo is a brushless.. but not for long 😂.. im going to order upper n lower rear marksman links the tires n foams n pinion n the aluminum shock tower's I broke.. took a tumble. brushless drag brake is nonexistent n i looked away for an instant 😂 but yeah thats the thing I can't figure out is how the links might be positioned

    How is it even possible to make a rc crawler that is much worse than the gen8 v1? They attempted to make it better with the gen8 v2 but that was too late. And now this......why? Why didn't they learn anything from those mistakes?

    would u recomend the axles on the marksman? looking for a wide axle to put on a 1/10

    • @2fmrc
      @2fmrc  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I would probably go Capra axles. If you don’t mind portals. They have a good turning radius and are pretty wide. Plus parts are very easy to come by. For the Redcat you’ll have trouble getting overdrive etc imo.

  • @bobzilla9p0
    @bobzilla9p0 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I know in your earlier video you were a bit down on the Marksman, and I glad you see the potential in the rig now. Redcat was not just "cashing in" on the leftovers of the Wendigo. They were giving the public what they wanted. I would say half of the Wendigo owners out there were converting them into 2.2 crawlers. I have 2 Wendigos an RTR that is stock for high speed romping through desert washes and the Kit which I built for romping and crawling. On the Kit I started with the same motor as the stock Marksman for dedicated crawling, but I am switching to a sensored brushless setup that will allow for slow speed crawling and match the speed of the stock RTR. If the Marksman had been available a year a go I most likely would have bought it instead of the Kit as second option. Finally, all companies have to spread parts usage to multiple models. Homologation for costs, as R&D, investment in molds, and manufacturing takes time and lots of sales to pay back, so companies need to use parts over several models. I love the new straight axle (XR247) as an option instead of the old Axial AR60's (a great axle), and have one for my rear on my CAMO X4 (Yeti in disguise) (the stock HSP sourced axel sucks).

    Nice crawling! You're changing my mind on this thing. I love the idea of an 1/8 scale with 2.2" wheels but the limited turning seemed like a deal breaker. If its possible to get a few more degrees it might make a big difference. What do you think about somehow adding a dig unit to this truck? That would be a massive advantage!
    I honestly felt the same about my Gen8. Got it on a trade and it seemed like a cheap toy but the damn thing works so well I went ahead and did a few mods, now its one of my favorite crawlers.
    Looking forward to more vids on this one.

  • @bobzilla9p0

    Keep the great vids coming (subscribed)! For more improved steering on the the new straight axle (XR247) I shaved 1mm off of the front C-hub screw mounts and counter sunk flat screws to remove the Button heads from sticking out for another 1mm of knuckle arm clearance. This give about 4 degrees of total increased steering angle. Not a lot, but with your mod of moving the steering arm connection to outer servo horn hole it makes the steering more acceptable. I can't wait for aftermarket aluminum and brass knuckles with more "throw" in the arms. There is an aluminum one available, but it is an exact copy of the stock plastic one. I have also heard that the Club 5 servo mount helps with the steering issues you showed in your short vid, but I have not tried it yet. I hope that helps!

    • @2fmrc
      @2fmrc  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Awesome! I’m planning to take a look at shaving a bit off of them as soon as I get time. Mostly buttoning things up for a big crawl this wknd at the moment but I may get to it before we leave out. Is the club 5 servo mount the one for the Gen 8 or marksman? I had it on my Gen 8. I just recently swapped the servo on this thing and the holes that the servo screws mount to are very thin and basically stripped as I backed out the screws. The threads came out with the screw lol. When I put the new servo in it held but the screws didn’t really get tight. Be nice if there was an aluminum option.

    • @bobzilla9p0
      @bobzilla9p0 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@2fmrc the central chassis of the Gen 8 V2, Wendigo, and Marksman are all identical. The bumper mounts, servo mount, differential, shock towers and center skid are the same. Tge transmission is tge sam, butI heard the transmission on the Wendigo might have slightly different gear ratios, but I have not confirmed it. This means all the aluminum Redcat and club 5 version of those parts are compatible.

    • @2fmrc
      @2fmrc  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bobzilla9p0 awesome. I thought so. I’ve been playing with some metal bumpers I had left from my Gen 8 build on it. Didn’t really like them but they did line up perfectly. I could tell the chassis and stuff looked the same. Just haven’t tried to fit much aftermarket stuff on it yet. I actually have a set of the club 5 steering links new in the package for the Gen 8. May end up using them somewhere also lol. Thanks for the info! And the sub!

  • @brianargo9306
    @brianargo9306 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I'll tell u something else that might help it steering. The link that goes from the servo down to the steering link take a like bolt and 3 nuts u can even put washers on there to make it swivel a little better. But anyways separate the 2 links where they connect. What ur trying to do is the link that goes to the servo up and more level.
