Thank you very much! I've been playing alto sax for a while but now as a sophomore in HS I've gotten a lot more involved by joining band at my school and this really helped me how to play overtones!
Oh most definitely. The voicing (volume/shape of the cavity inside the mouth and throat) is a good bit smaller on clarinet. I'm generalizing for comment brevity but that's the gist.
I can't thank you enough. just not too long ago I made the switch from clarinet to alto saxophone, and I have not been able to play any low notes AT ALL. after you described the singing part of it, and the warm-up, I've been able to play worry-free. Thank you so much!!
i just switched from clarinet to alto saxophone and my notes are still coming out too high, even after i try these exercises. do you have any other tips?
Yes! Long story short, keep it up with these exercises. Coming from clarinet, it is very likely that you are voicing too high. watch my whole playlist on tone production. It's a bit nerdy, but the ideas there will almost surely help. Best of luck!

Rock on! Let me know if there's anything else I can do to help.
Interesting to learn that this is a problem common to many clarinet players. I'm having this problem too and had formerly played clarinet.
