Been scrapping for a couple years now, first time I've seen this way and its amazing... thanks for the tip I'm from the US and copper has just went up more than it has in several months. Guess I'm gna be buying food peelers 😀
excellent tip, thanks so much ... I was just starting a side hustle myself, didn't want to spend big $$$ on a pro striper until I made enough to justify the price.
Glad it helped mate, and yep because I'm relatively new to scrapping copper and other metals like brass, this is the most cost effective way to quickly strip copper wire by hand without buying a wire stripper machine until maybe later on when there is a need for one. This way is fairly quick especially if you have a helper pull the insulation off while you strip it 😁👍 thanks for watching
Get you a flat cheese grater put it in a vise and pull it through the many holes. Works like a charm and you got many holes in case it dulls one quickly move to the next hole.
Nice, simple solution. I've used utility knives, but the handle end of a fillet knife I got pretty good with when I kept in practice. Cut as fast as I could pull it. When it snagged or slipped off, I turn the wire, and start the new cut just a bit behind where I left off. I find that it is easier to get the cut going again. Some days are copper, and some are steel siding. All days are good.
Nice. I saw a video like this before the fella recommended to buy the Tupperware brand peeler. Twin blade one side normal blade the other was serrated. Glad it works with a $1 version
If you buy a stripper the only one that is worth considering is the Stripmeister. It's the only one that works all the time. Set up takes less than a minute and I've yet to find a type of wire it won't strip.
@@richavic4520 it's really a great stripper. Never slips, straightens the wire itself, well built and comes with spare consumable parts. Seems expensive for what you get but it's really not.
@@budgetechgadgets We scrap part time here, southern NH, USA. I am the gatherer of our scrap, my girlfriend does most of the wire stripping, and she is pretty efficient at it. I bought her a small manual device I found at Amazon, in t takes little mini blades. Any way, I am going to have her look at your video, and see if she wants to try he peelers.
Burning off wire is pretty much illegal now a days due to the toxicity of the fumes from the plastic insulation, plus you will get less $$ value cause the scrap yard will categorize it as burnt copper
Cheers for watching mate, glad the video helped and yep its very clean copper so should be able to to get bare bright price for it 👍 Still collecting a bit more before i take it all in
Buy the Canadian made Stripmeister with your first cash-in. You won't regret that purchase. And avoid those vevor garbage dumps; scrapper reviewers are never pleased with the bargain choice.
I love This! if you are looking for a machine ....Stripmeister from Canada, best investment I have ever made, I have put a couple thousand pounds through it now, its only $180 CAD and pays for itself quickly
You can also put your insulated wire into boiling hydrochloric acid to remove the insulation
👍🏻
Boy do I feel like a FOOL! I couldn't imagine to use a vegi peeler. Awesome job, Cousin! Totally BRILLIANT!

Buy un stripped singles from electricians higher than scrap value but less than bare bright price. Giving you access to miles of the stuff
i never would have thought to use a veggie peeler to help with that. pretty nifty.

A couple of the scrappers I follow use it, and recommend it.

Glad it was helpful!
I always wondered could you just put it on a metal drum and set it on fire

are you in Australia ? Do the merchant only buy the large scale of copper?
Yes I am in Australia, typically you can just take what ever you have collected, but i guess larger quantities are better to take to the scrap yard.
Great video, mate, cheers this will make things much easier for me🍻👍 you would be able to sell that as bare bright am I right?
