In the video I mentioned "55bhp" whilst there were some 1.2 polos putting that out this one must be the 70bhp judging from the couple of test launches we did in this video...
That's a nice car. This is the 12-valve BME 64bhp engine, not 70bhp. 0-60 is 15 seconds. But these Polo Cars are WAAAAAAAY nippier than that. I own one the same, but a 57-plate in Diamond metallic black, 109000 miles, and I love it. The 70bhp BZG-code 12-valve came out in mid-2007. But my September 2007 car still uses the older 64bhp BME-code engine same as this. It stuck around inside a showroom before registration I think.
I’ve just bought a 2006 Polo today @ 45k miles , and I have to agree it feels a great car to buy ... always bought various cars from new and sold my 2016 Ibiza , the Polo feels a hoot to drive, comfortable and cheaper to own . Great presenting and enjoyed your feedback 👍🏻, Gray .
I bought a 2003 polo 1.2 64hp for £850 with 74,000 miles with full mot and service history and I do not regret it, it does anything and everything I've asked of it
@@user-xe2pe3op6u i’ve got mine and had it for about 3 weeks now. i know that might not be much experience but there are a few things i can say. one thing i cannot stress enough is please avoid the 1.2 engines and go for the 1.4 engine. i went to see a 1.2 and it was extremely loud when driving and when stationary. it sounded like a diesel and i did some research into the 1.2 engines and it turns out its common in them. my 1.4 is sooo quiet and smooth when driving. the clutch is so smooth and the gear changes are so smooth u never feel any jerk or anything. the economy is also pretty good. i tend to drive my car quite fast sometimes and even then, a half tank lasts me well over 2 weeks. if there’s anything else u would like to know let me know
@@skykyro7712 okay thank you so much for that. Could I also ask what to look out for when inspecting cars, like regardless of the make, what are some things that should be done when you’re looking at used cars and then take them on a test drive? I have watched a few videos but some of it is so confusing
@@user-xe2pe3op6u make sure it has FSH ( full service history ) this is so you can see how it has been maintained in the past and where the previous services have been done. if it has been done by a manufacturer such as bmw or audi then that is good. also look for MOT and when it is valid until and where the MOT has been done. check the oil levels, tires and rust especially under the arches. when you check the oil level open the actual lid where oil will be put in when changed and check for any milky resedue. there should be no milky or brown susbtance. check all the lights and indicators work. when you take it on a test drive make sure you have no music on and nobody is talking sometimes the salesmen will try to talk to distract you from the noises that the car makes so make sure you ask the salesmen to be quiet and listen for any noises the car makes.
Good video thank you. It’s worth noting that this is the 12v 1.2 engine while most of the polos from that era that are 1.2 seem to have the 6v engine. There is a noticeable difference not only in the power but also the 12v engine is significantly smoother and sounds a lot nicer. However, both the 6v and 12v can suffer from cam chain wear, so frequent oil changes are very very important.
I owned one of these recently for doing pizza deliveries for my second job. Good car just too slow for my liking so got sick of it so just bought a Ibiza pd130 since I owned one of them as my first car. The polo had a 1.4 tdi I booked that in for a remap straight away
I'm gonna advise my cuz to look at getting a TDI after building a year's no claims because you can easily get more of the turbo engines. But still I think this thing is great by first car standards.
Redline Revs yeah I like the midrange torque from a diesel. Remap took it from 125 ft lbs to about 175 fts lbs still too bloody slow for me haha. Weird thing is my reg started off sg55 as well
I would personally choose a Ibiza mk4 as a first car it suits younger people and cheaper on insurance. When I went from. Polo 1.4 70bhp to 1.9 130bhp Ibiza insurance was only £5 something over the whole year
I bought this car 4 months ago @96k miles. I am starting to wonder if I made the right decision because i'm not sure if the timing belt was ever changed by the previous owners
It’s been over a year, is it reliable? And please don’t lie like everyone else saying that it’s reliable but there’s a few repairs done that cost a bunch
Mr. IDGAF car has been very reliable for me, when I bought it the rear door lock was stuck so had to get that fixed for around £80 labour and lock heard this is quite common among many older VW’s. Other thing for me was a power steering issue which was just due to a loose ground cable which was quick fix and most recently only issue has been an engine light which has shown up on reader as an exhaust sensor shouldn’t be a hard fix. But overall car is great and lasts forever on a full tank 👍🏻
Owen Barrons That’s great tbh, but old Peugeot’s are a headache every few months imo. Usually the cars have oil leaking, something wrong with the engine (£400 charge, but £270 with used engine parts), and the car battery has been horrible. It’s cost a lot to maintain, which is why it was sold ASAP But I’ve heard Peugeot’s these days are topping the reliability charts, so they’re changing the way they make their cars, but who knows how much years they’ll last.
another thing is the car is very light because its only a 3 cylinder so if the only person inside the car is the driver it will be alright, if you got full car it will struggle big time
With 4 people it did struggle a bit you're right. You see me launch in this video twice to 60 and that was with 2 people in the car. Great little first run around we are very happy with it.
Sorry to hear bro. Typical for the endz tho init lol. I've had someone steal the splitter off my Cupra R overnight while it's parked on the drive... Twice lol!

Yours is the 12 valve so definitely the 70bhp model
They do a 6 also feels much slower with only the 55bhp
Would love to see a video reviewing this car after a year of upload, could do with a mic. Great vid, thanks

I’m going to view a silver version of this exact car today. It will be my first car, fingers crossed!
Howd it go?

waiting for my VW Polo 2007 1.6 engine.. 5k miles odo.... Silver color.. coming in a month and I can't wait to hit it running ..haha
This is the best review of the car I’ve seen! Fit lad too 🥵

What are they like for driving on the motorway and what mileage did it have on it when you brought it

Hi dont know if you’ve still got the car, but how has it held up and would you recommend?
But the older 3-cylinder 1.2 Polo Cars are chain-cam, not belt. 1.4 4-cylinders and everything else would be belt.
Sounds Insane big rev while accelerating 14:14
Btw 3dr Hatch Looks better 4 these 9N3 Models!
im interested to buy this model , but im still need more info about it , since i see that the 2001 model polo gets lots of issues
