My little old dog has been very ill lately, and I am nursing him 24/7, so, to hear your beautiful poem, expressing the love and loyalty of the mutual relationship between owner and beloved dog rang so very true for me. I love your relationship with Zeph, she is such a wonderful companion to you, and is always so calm in every situation, and is just plain loving her life and adventures with you. Good Morning Vanessa (or rather, good afternoon from across the Pond). The Cob protecting its Pen and unhatched Cynets somewhere near the locks was brave to block a 60 foot narrowboat. He then escorted you into the locks and, duty done, went back to guarding his family. I love how you really know the flora and fauna that you encounter. Do you have a background in biology, ornithology, or entomology? You certainly are well versed in their various names, gender, etc. That was quite a commute to your Aunt's funeral (my sincere condolences) with Zephyr patiently accompanying you with the help of treats. I grew up in Houston, TX in a woodsy neighborhood where I enjoyed the insects, birds, possum, butterflies, snakes, etc. which later inspired me to incorporate them into my artwork. I'm primarily an illustrator, doing detailed representational illustrations from both my imagination, photographs, etc. I've also done a lot of camping, hiking, kayaking, etc. in Seattle and the Pacific NW. I always look forward to Friday night because it’s Mindful Narrowboat night! Such a beautiful vlog, wonderful scenery and wildlife as always. We once shared a lock with a family of swans, it was terrifying, worrying if they were going to get squashed by us or the Narrowboat we shared the lock with. But we needn’t have worried they all stayed at the front and glided out as soon as the gates opened. I’m sorry to hear of the loss of your Auntie. It was quite a marathon, getting yourself, Zephyr and the boat ready for your time away from the water. Lovely journaling as always, the picture and poem of Zephyr was so touching. Lovely presentation and content as usual, very relaxing and stunning scenery, Zephyr just gorgeous, I have bred worked and cared for Labradors since I was a young child, we currently have Lily a fax red 11 years old and I walk and train since puppies my daughters Labrador’s Mabel (chocolate) and Dot ( Fox Red) we walk most day all three girls along the River Soar near Loughborough in Leicestershire sometimes we walk the other way towards Loughborough and watch the canal boats go through a lock where we sit and have a cuppa, if you ever this way be nice to say thank you face to face Zephyr can say hello to our girls as well. Because I see a community that looks out for each other, not like my neighbours, druggies on benefits, the old saying was 'you scratch my back I'll scratch yours ' sorry if this was long winded, but it's just an observation, you are a great community, look after each other 💕💕💕👍👍

I had the same reaction as Lisa I too got all emotional when you did your drawing of Zeph I was just visiting my brother yesterday and he has two goldens one's name is Ashland and he is so close to that dog and the dog has been through so much lately. I am afraid he does not have long to live and I know how much my brother will miss him when he is gone. I have a tiny little dog I feel I can't live without we get so close to them. I have one quick question when you were trying to steer clear of the swan. I think you called it a "Cob" or something like that is that another name for them? You are right about how important our dogs become to us. I called the swan a Cob because that is the name for a male swan. When swans nest the male gets very protective and I think that is where the phrase ‘having a cob on ‘ comes from as it means someone is in a bad mood. Still in hospital. Was due to come later Wednesday but the levels of potassium and ceratin in my blood suddenly rose quite alarmingly. Doctor don't know why. New course of drugs. Good Morning Vanessa (or rather, good afternoon from across the Pond). The Cob protecting its Pen and unhatched Cynets somewhere near the locks was brave to block a 60 foot narrowboat. He then escorted you into the locks and, duty done, went back to guarding his family. I love how you really know the flora and fauna that you encounter. Do you have a background in biology, ornithology, or entomology? You certainly are well versed in their various names, gender, etc. That was quite a commute to your Aunt's funeral (my sincere condolences) with Zephyr patiently accompanying you with the help of treats. I grew up in Houston, TX in a woodsy neighborhood where I enjoyed the insects, birds, possum, butterflies, snakes, etc. which later inspired me to incorporate them into my artwork. I'm primarily an illustrator, doing detailed representational illustrations from both my imagination, photographs, etc. I've also done a lot of camping, hiking, kayaking, etc. in Seattle and the Pacific NW. I always look forward to Friday night because it’s Mindful Narrowboat night! Such a beautiful vlog, wonderful scenery and wildlife as always. We once shared a lock with a family of swans, it was terrifying, worrying if they were going to get squashed by us or the Narrowboat we shared the lock with. But we needn’t have worried they all stayed at the front and glided out as soon as the gates opened. I’m sorry to hear of the loss of your Auntie. It was quite a marathon, getting yourself, Zephyr and the boat ready for your time away from the water. Lovely journaling as always, the picture and poem of Zephyr was so touching. Lovely presentation and content as usual, very relaxing and stunning scenery, Zephyr just gorgeous, I have bred worked and cared for Labradors since I was a young child, we currently have Lily a fax red 11 years old and I walk and train since puppies my daughters Labrador’s Mabel (chocolate) and Dot ( Fox Red) we walk most day all three girls along the River Soar near Loughborough in Leicestershire sometimes we walk the other way towards Loughborough and watch the canal boats go through a lock where we sit and have a cuppa, if you ever this way be nice to say thank you face to face Zephyr can say hello to our girls as well. Hello Vanessa, so sorry to hear about your Auntie, please accept my delayed condolences ❤️, I hope what I say does not offend , I am looking at becoming a boater as I hate town life but want to travel our wonderful country, you stated that you was looking for a safe mooring for the time needed for travelling and the funeral, as a constant traveller I could stay with your boat for two weeks, keeping an on her, minding your solar, maybe I'm thinking above myself, why would you trust someone with your boat? Because I see a community that looks out for each other, not like my neighbours, druggies on benefits, the old saying was 'you scratch my back I'll scratch yours ' sorry if this was long winded, but it's just an observation, you are a great community, look after each other 💕💕💕👍👍

I had the same reaction as Lisa I too got all emotional when you did your drawing of Zeph I was just visiting my brother yesterday and he has two goldens one's name is Ashland and he is so close to that dog and the dog has been through so much lately. I am afraid he does not have long to live and I know how much my brother will miss him when he is gone. I have a tiny little dog I feel I can't live without we get so close to them. I have one quick question when you were trying to steer clear of the swan. I think you called it a "Cob" or something like that is that another name for them? Hi Steve, I am sorry to hear about your brother’s dog. I hope Ashland isn’t in any pain and that the two of them can spend some precious time together. You are right about how important our dogs become to us. I called the swan a Cob because that is the name for a male swan. When swans nest the male gets very protective and I think that is where the phrase ‘having a cob on ‘ comes from as it means someone is in a bad mood. Cant you insert a small camera on the front of your boat like they have in cars and have a monitor up front where you steer.

Still in hospital. Was due to come later Wednesday but the levels of potassium and ceratin in my blood suddenly rose quite alarmingly. Doctor don't know why. New course of drugs. Just have to wait
