Well, it is also true that King Ranjit Singh kingdom established due to the same Brits in his back when he was fighting against the Durranies empire. British suppported him against Afghan and as soon mission accomplished they later toppled King Ranjit Singhs dynastic rule too in the region. The fact of the matter is Ranjit Singh fought a proxy war for British Empire in the North of India. British divided the Northern Indians through their proxies before they captured the whole region upto Kabul and later moved back down to Durandline, and the rest was history. No wonder why dynestic rule of King Ranjit Singh didn't last more than 30 to 35 years even in Punjab itself.

@@appleoranges9772 Ranjit Singh never fought for British its a false history chapter you are talking about British fought afghans after they captured punjab
Very true narrative. Par Excellence I must say. You must have done lot of research and brain storming sessions in making this video. Four main battles were fought between British Army and Maharaja Singh 's Army at Ferozshah, Sabraon, Misri wala ( All in Distt Ferozepur now), Aliwal in Distt Ludhiana. The Maharaja Ranjit Singh 's Army fought Bravely but were deserted due to treachery by its Generals. Britishers got control of Lahore Punjab after last battle of Chillian Wala near Mandi Bahaudin. British fought under Sir Hugh Gogh but were terrified by bravery of Maharaja Ranjit Singh' s Army. Duleep Singh was Too young at that time so he was unable to understand the implications and planning of Britishers . Maharani Jinda was delibetately separated from Maharaja Duleep Singh so that he is unable to know truth. For some time ,She was imprisoned by Britishers in Chunar Fort now in State of UP.
@@ਪੰਨੂ-ਙ5ਨ bro not really, I think you have just read "masaal e daar" history. There is no question during a major war, there are numerous smaller battles fought, some of which are won while others are lost. However I challenge the idea that Maharaja Ranjit Singh's empire fell solely due to internal factors and argues that the British Empire had a role in supporting him in the beginning as a proxy against the Durrani Empire. We firmly believes that the British Empire's silence during this period was a go-ahead signal for Ranjit Singh's forces. However, when the British Empire had achieved its goals and divided the resources in the north and northwestern regions, they abandoned their signed agreement and directly intervened, causing the downfall of Ranjit Singh's legacy, no wonder why Ranjit Singh legacy did not last more than 30 years even in punjab itself. Ranjit Singh against Durrani's empire is an example of how proxy wars work, similar to the recent history of Afghanistan against USSR. We believes that the British did not resist Ranjit Singh's forces because they had already made an agreement with his comrade in Punjab. British did not wanted to confront Durranies directly and believes that the British let the resources in the region be divided so that they could later enter and take over when region and its resources power is already divided

Ranjeet fought proxy wars with British help ( guns, bombs, maps telescopes, soldiers) with people who had swords and stones. He massacred all Muslims in Lahore and surrounding areas. He used to tie his horses in badshahi mosque. Sikhs and Marathas are responsible for British colonization. He was never able to capture 80% of Afghanistan. Within eight years Zaman shah collected Pathans/Pashtuns from all over Afghanistan and kicked injured ranjeet Singh back to Punjab where he ruled his own Punjabis for decades. His minster Nalwa was beheaded by Dost Mohammad at Jamrod. Even today, dhotis and uniforms of british soldiers are in Jamrod museum. While in Punjab, Ranjeet got a bit toned down and started including Muslims in his army and darbar after he sensed that his masters aka British are now after his rule and regions.

I grew up in Jalandhar hearing all those partition stories from grandparents and parents and their desire to go back to Lahore once, but you know, they left to other side with those desires. I see many similarities between the buildings in your videos and the buildings we had seen in interior Jalandhar like in Rainak Bazar, Mai Hiran Gate, Khingra Gate, Qila Mohalla, Basti Sheikh Doesn’t look different except Lahore seems to have a lot of them. You have a great grasp over Hindi, Punjabi and Urdu.Good job👍
What a grand story but filled with so much personal and familial tragedy and sadness! Leaves your heart heavy with mixed emotions of pride over the greatness of Maharaja Ranjit Singh and the disintegration of his very hard constructed empire which was too short lived. 😿
Wonderful narration of a very sad part of history. The direct link of Mahraja Ranjit Singh who died in 1839, to our own time in the 20th century (1957), through his veru own granddughter, his sons' daughter. The daughter of the last Mahraja of Punjab. Duleep Singh. I was born in 1960, my sister in 1953; so the link feels very close, especially as it is through my father's city, Lahore. Thank you 🙏
Very sad and heart touching documentary. The fall of the Sikh empire and as usual the culprit were outsiders 🇬🇧 they caused a lot of heart break for all communities in the continent for there own vested interests.
@@jimbocho660 don't try to spread utter nonsense, Hindu Dogras were great warriors under Ranjit Singhji's Sikh Khalsa, and under the strong leadership of Dogra General Zorawar Singh Kalhuria Sikh-Dogra allied force captured Ladakh from the Chinese qing rulers. Both Sikhs and Dogras were in good relation with each other. Ranjit Singh and Gulab Singh respected each other. After Ranjit Singh, things changed. They started disrespecting each other and lots of controversies immerged about who will lead the Khalsa. both lost real respect for the great warriors and just started using them for personal pride. Both Sikhs, Rajputs, and all had a few bad people within them. But both had also great warriors too. Real Spirited Rajputs or Sikhs never insult each other, except few useless online keyboard fighters living abroad.
@@immortalbeing196 It was largely Lal Singh, Tej SIngh (who were technically Hindu Dogra's) and Dhian Singh (the architect of the Dogra Dynasty and claimed suspect in the unexplained death of Kharak Singh) who orchestrated the fracticious beginnings (or rather ending) of the Sikh empire. In the Book by John Keay (The Tartan Turban) it is accounted that these three conspired with the British to architect the toppling of the Sikh Empire due to their angst over the every growing Khalsa Army and the begining of a Dogra Dynasty in Jammu & Kashmir. To aid the internal fracture and decay of the empire they also conspired with the Sikh Maharajah Sher Singh who was just as treacheorus thanks to his incessant desire for power, booty and treasure. it's also claimed that Sher Singh had a hand in the Murder of his own nephew Nau Nihal Singh who was the son of Kharak Singh and considered a sutiable heir to the throne. So the Sikh Maharaja Sher Singh and the three purveyors of the 'Dogra dynasty' enter as some of the most power hungry treasonous individuals in history.
@@tarjd6796 the most interesting fact is that all the ten Sikh Gurus were only from the Khatri-Bedi/Sodhi clan of the Hindu caste system, even though Sikhism proclaim they are anti-caste, this fact creates irony. And you forget the contribution to Sikhs by Baba Banda Singh Bahadur aka Lachman Dev, a Rajauri-born Hindu Dogra, After the tenth Guru Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji's assassination by the Mughals. Baba Banda Singh Bahadur is the one who brings back the Sikh empire to its past glory and gave the Sikhs an empire to Rule. And Banda Bahadur is the first one to stop the zamindari system of Punjab and gave the land to naive local Sikh & Hindu farmers. Later he was brutally executed by the Mughals. He is the only one who deserves to be the eleventh Guru, but he was denied and expelled from history and declared The Guru Granth Sahib as the eleventh living Guru. Don't know which force worked behind that. But, Khalistanis claim Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale as the eleventh Guru, a militant separatist of the Khalistan movement, who killed many innocent Punjabi Hindus across Punjab state. Traitors are everywhere there are many Sikh traitors as well, Hindu traitors as well, and Muslim traitors as well. Here, I just denied the above comment that says only Hindu Dogras were behind the fall of the Sikh empire which is not true. One more thing, that Sikhs never fought alone, more than Sikhs themselves, many of their supporters, and soldiers were Hindus too.
Simply superb: tragic romantic musical historical love story of a princess. The death of a king without Kingdom. The sheer intensity of pain and anguish. Thank you very much to make us aware of Lahore and Maharaja Ranjeet Singh's legacy and what the British did . Regards ❤.

Amazing story… but remember, Ranjit Singh was a hostage in England.. the royals of India had to give up their kids to ensure they did not rebel again against the British.. he was in a golden cage from which he could not escape.. Queen Victoria may have had sympathies with the Indian but her administration kept them on a tight reign.. amazing story.. I can understand why she loved Lahore.. it’s a city of gardens and flowers…🙂
I think you mean't Duleep Singh rather than Maharajah Ranjit Singh (the father of Duleep Singh), Ranjit Singh died in 1839, which was well before the British annexed the Punjab and exiled Duleep Singh to England. A few interesting things to note about Ranjit Singh; the British East India Company held Ranjit Singh in admiration and brokered a peace treaty with him to ensure neither encroached on eithers territory. He was founder and principal Commander-In-Chief of the Sikh Empire (a Federal Monarchy), and commanded an army of 120,000 men, which included several hundred European soldiers of the bygone Napoleanic era who he promoted as Officers and militrary commanders to build up a modern army based on Franco-British principles (notable European officers include the French Jean Baptiste Ventura and Jean Francis Allan, and the Italian General Paolo Avitabile of Naples). One noteworthy advisor in the employ of Ranjit Singh was a man of American descent with Scottish ancestory, known as Alexander Gardner (The Tartan Turban) who became one of his trusted confidants and chief of the Sikh empires Artillery. Ranjit Singh grew the empire to annex great swaths of the northern indian plains and expanded this as far into the territories of Kashmir, the Khyber pass and Afghanistan. In 2020 Ranjit Singh was voted "Historys greatest leader" by a panel of historians from the BBC World Histories Magazine.
Calling Ranjit Singh a hostage is a great insult to the Maharaja, who himself set free many hostages like poverty, inequality, cowardness, dependence, and many more,as long as Ranjit Singh ruled Punjab,British could not capture it

Wonderful narration of a very sad part of history. The direct link of Mahraja Ranjit Singh who died in 1839, to our own time in the 20th century (1957), through his veru own granddughter, his sons' daughter. The daughter of the last Mahraja of Punjab. Duleep Singh.

Very sad and heart touching documentary. The fall of the Sikh empire and as usual the culprit were outsiders 🇬🇧 they caused a lot of heart break for all communities in the continent for there own vested interests.
The culprits in the fall of the Sikh empire were the Dogras of Jammu.
@@jimbocho660 yes but britishers played a major role as well.
Regards ❤.

Yes it was a golden cage but Bamba loved Lahore
