    I wanna say thank you to You & Ken and Tony for letting us hang out with ya at Firewood Frenzy.
    John & I had a blast and a half, and an experience we'll never forget.
    You guys are truly a class act that's tough to beat.
    We're both looking forward to helping you out In The Woodyard in the near future.
    We're probably gonna start a channel of our own, called Badger Brothers self reliance.
    Where we'll feature 4 decades worth of skills in our perspective trades, while also covering Firewood Bushcraft and Prepping.
    We owe it to you who heavily influenced us to do so.
    Thanks a Billion & Stay Blessed.

    Cottonwood here in the Pacific NW is my equivalent to your pine. So I am starting to take in a little cottonwood and in the spring I will mix it and see how sales go for campfires and firepits..

    • @InTheWoodyard

      @QuietlyContemplating : the issue with cottonwood here in Western Washington. Is it takes forever (or so it seems) to season and for the BTU per cord for heating no one really wants it.
      Now, if that's all you can afford, I get it, and at the end of the day, no one is laughing.. 99% of what I do is for heating..
      Here in Washington state, we burn lots of Fir and we don't have an issue

    I tryed to leave you a tip on your bar problem but it kept deleting it.you need to keep that chain tighter on the processor than on a chainsaw as there is so much centrifugal force as it runs much faster. If you see the chain pulling away from the bar tighten it. when I put a chain back on after sharpening I run it twice with out cutting as it may need to be adjusted again. There is a lot of vibration in the bar you may need to keep a eye on the bolts for the bar. For oiling the bar I like to see some oil dripping off the bottom of the bar at the end of the cut not running in a stream but just dripping

    • @jeanvaljohn3921
      @jeanvaljohn3921 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Are you splitting for your own use ?
      In the stove or fire place and some camp fire wood ?
      Or did you want to put up a stand in the front yard for sales ?
      Or
      Will you be splitting six hours a day for delivery sales as well?
      In other words ,
      Do you want to split a cord a month ?
      Or a cord a day?

      @InTheWoodyard  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      All good questions to ask!

    • @InTheWoodyard
      @InTheWoodyard  2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Get the best one you can afford, they hold their value pretty well so if you want to upgrade later you will have a easy time selling it.
      Ask yourself ...how much will I use it, how much wood do you want to produce, will you split big wood rounds or small stuff, what can you spend, how fast is it.
      I might consider trying a few out that other have.
      I think the Eastonmade Ultra is the best splitter for the money out there.

    Chris,
    Do you have an issue with you Husky not oiling enough? I have a 440 and a 450, yeah I know weanie saws, neither wants to oil enough. Plenty of times they stall due to having a dry bar. I took one to a dealer and he said it works fine, never cut a piece of wood. My 440 wont get through 5 cuts on an 8 inch log.

    • @sean3301
      @sean3301 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      My 455 rancher did the same thing. My oiler was plugged where it comes from the tank. Remove the pump and clean the tank.

    • @rodneysweetnam8653
      @rodneysweetnam8653 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Billy - it's Big Rodders in Ireland. I'm now down to running a Rancher 455, a great saw for what work it was designed. Recently I ran some Oregon biodegradable bar oil that you mix with water. I was extremely impressed with the way it performed - it is very watery, runs consistently and keeps the clutch area and bar largely free of gunk as well as making the chain a joy to handle. I also intend to experiment with thin cooking oil about which I have received some favourable comment.

    • @coreyriley7160
      @coreyriley7160 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi. My 450 does not oil enough either. The oiler is fixed, no adjustment. I use a .058 x 18” chain. Oils much gooder

    • @nothanks9050
      @nothanks9050 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've heard it suggested that filling the oil tank with boiling water and running the saw can help flush out, run it powerhead only so you can see if its oiling, if its pumping out ok, double check your bar is cleaned out and sitting flush against saw body etc. Also check your sprocket, most customer units that arrive on my bench are either worn out or completely destroyed and it quickly damages the chain(s) and ruins the bar, look for peened tie straps and drive links.

    • @InTheWoodyard
      @InTheWoodyard  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No never had a problem. But you need to check the small hole in the back of your bar it can get plugged with saw dust and stop oil from flowing...give it a check.

      16" is the standard. Everyone here and throughout much of the USA and Canada use face cords all the time, it is mostly the east coast that has lots of rules and laws. We all just know a face cord is 1/3 of a full cord and it is fine for all of us...not nefarious or nebulous or crooked or shifty or inaccurate in any way.....one row of stacked 16" pieces 4' high 8' long ..maybe that is an east coast thing???

    You might want to ask yourself why in these last few years these TH-camrs who are selling firewood, are focusing on getting you convinced that it is OK and safe to burn pine wood in your stoves and fire places to heat your homes? Could it be sense most educated people would not burn pine wood in their stoves and fireplaces, these TH-cam salesmen often get pinewood very cheap and sometimes even free. A number of them cut down pine trees on their own property to better access hardwood trees for lumber and firewood. Pinewood produces less BTUs than hardwoods and it also produces resin that collects on the walls of your stoves and Chimneys, creating a fire hazard. I served a number of years as a firefighter in a rural community of our county, 99% of Chimneys fires, we responded to was in Homes who was burning pine wood as a source of heat and cooking. In my nearly 13 years as a firefighter in my community our department offered Chimney, cleaning as a free service other than my own I was involved in cleaning only two Chimneys. Most of our residents clean their own and very, very few Would burn pine wood. There is a very good reason why so many of these TH-camrs and fire wood salesman are now promoting pine as a good heating source. For them the price of pinewood as I stated earlier is cheap for them to buy and sometimes even free. In our world today it is not about your health, safety, and welfare, but about money money, money.
