Wow... This is the one where Toyota ended Aja Kong's 800 day reign as WWWA Champion but Kong won it 3 months after and ends up on a short reign than her first reign. No doubt that they're legends on their own right. Manami Toyota and Aja Kong really a good treasure along with few great Joshi wrestlers of the 90s.
It's a good match, but I don't see the 5 stars. The opening third was too long and too boring with all the submissions and barely any action inbetween, there were WAY too many botches and awkward moments, especially during the last third of the match, and Manami barely got any offense in, and then wins with one move at the end. I don't care that it was her super finisher from the top rope, she still barely did any damage to Aja throughout the match. I liked the matchstory of Kong countering EVERYTHING, but they should've given Toyota more offense here and there to make it more believable that she was able to wear Aja down enough in small doses, that it was enough to beat her in the end. I much prefer their 1994 match at Big Egg Wrestling Universe.
I watched another match between the two of them also from '94. And my immediate issue with this match is that it's nearly identical to the other one, except the other being less boring. I do like the payoff of Toyota winning here though.
Eric .Vanderford I came out of most of these matches thinking: Manami has to stop going for the Victory Star Drop. If she hits it it looks dangerous and more often than not she botched it and it just looked bad. She might be the best women's wrestler ever but that particular move is a sure way to kill the flow of a good match because it only works 1 out of 10 times or so.
