The best shorts knife for the waistband is the civivi button lock elementum. The one that’s button lock only in micarta. 100% the best for shorts. ( I started writing this 2 minutes into the video) …. so stoked to see you included it.
When I’m wearing shorts I usually carry my Vosteed Racoon, Civivi Qubit, Native 5 LW or cf elite bugout. Most likely my bugout, I got married with it in my pocket so I love having it with me in the summer months. Great video thanks!
I'm a beer delivery guy. I carry the reate Exo more than anything else while delivering. I switch to fairly thin shorts during the summer since its hot as fuck in CO matched with afternoon rainstorms etc. The exo is quick, light, and good enough for cutting plastic and such off of cases. Also having something that's smaller means I can use my leg and body while kicking around kegs.
Great vid. I have light shorts/trunks carried for 20+ years in the summer. Always waistband. Camping, swimming, daily edc. Central CA so very hot in the summers. My fav answer has been a CS Recon1 since they went to no liner and dlc coating. Something about the clip placement just sits right. Super comfortable. The edge is the only thing that oxidizes. I do prefer the S35VN to the XTC for edge corrosion. And I did use to smooth out the older peel ply g10 for comfort. But a nice fit for this. And nice to have a big blade for 1 knife solution. Keep killin it Neeves Kives. Love all your content!!!
Do you live near any creeks or rivers? If it's in the cards, you could probably use an evening of skipping stones.. maybe even take a dip. Life is short. I'm sure you've earned it!
For me at work I have been using the Chaves Liberation or my Demko 20.5 titanium. Off hours I have been cycling between my Quiet Carry Nine, my Demko AD 20 and my Bastinelli Safe.
Solid video Jared!!! Well done my friend! I carry inside the waistband almost exclusively because women's pockets are a joke. IWB carry can be hell with some knives and extreme uncomfortable to carry.
I live down south in Louisiana so I sweat a lot at work. At the end of a hot day my knife will be soaked. I have had knives rust in my pocket before I started caring about what material my knives are made of.
Kind of expected the Manix 2 Lightweight in this category, but it has been out a while and it isn't likely to be thought of in the same way these newer knives are. It has a good enough clip that is easily swapped for a deep carry clip and it weighs next to nothing considering it's size. I would take that over every other knife displayed here.
I've been rocking the Quiet Carry drift when I wanna be fancy and the Spyderco Native 5 salt. I appreciate the similar ergonomics between the two. Looking at replacing the frn with some AWT scales soon. Turns out not all Magnacut is the same when it comes to stainlessness. CBRx just did a deep dive on the Benchmade Adira along side the Native 5 salt and MKM Yipper. Turns out optimal heat treat matters. Softer Magnacut is less corrosion resistant. Take a wild guess how the Benchmade fared.
Hey Jerad, c’mon brother, no love for the Manix 2 lightweight? 😂. That’s my main shorts carry. In the waistband of course! Great video as always, brother, take it easy
I wear shorts all year long, never pants so I have a lot of practice figuring out what knives go well with shorts. My normal work and every day shorts can handle every knife in the collection but for the gym short situations that’s where this video will come in handy! The Deka, Atom, and all 4 variations of the pyrite I have are my favorites with gym shorts. I am eyeing the Quiet Carry Waypoint Large and this video I think firmed up my decision to get it! Thanks again Jerad!
I'm not a collector, my few knives are for utility purposes. So I've pretty much reached my total number of knives I'll ever need(I think 10 at the moment). What I've found out about these is that I REALLY like my CKT Pilar 3 the most. By far the most carried. Because of this, it really needed disassembly for cleaning because the action had become extremely "gritty". I'm not incompetent, but this thing WILL NOT go back together properly. Specifically at the pivot. Like I didn't put the bearings/washer back in. I did... The blade just flops around, and the frame/scale won't tighten any more. At a loss. Any advice, or should I just send it to you for an expert fix?
Ikbs bearings? They’re free floating not caged correct? And if I understand it’s not locking when open? If all this is true you may have a bearing loose in there that’s preventing the lock bar from engaging. Also make sure the female part of the pivot is pushed all the way in and lined up how it should be. I don’t own the knife just trying to help.
You should have mentioned the Spyderco manix 2 lightweight 😉. Full size great folder and you don’t even feel it in your basketball shorts. The best ever in my opinion. Thx
PRO TIP (for the Vision FG): There are linerless aluminum scales from a seller on Etsy that brings the weight down to 2.7oz (my pattern is the diamond texture with no speed holes. speed holes might bring it under 2.5 (I'm not 100%)..
I have a para 3 LW in CTS BD1N. It’s my go to when I have gym shorts on. Sticky mirror edge, thin, slicey, and easy to sharpen. Zero complaints

Ha..Haa! I just knew the Quiet Carry would be number ONE!
I just felt it in me bones...You can't go wrong with a Quiet Carry 😌
I carry a Bug Out on my hip when wearing my running shorts.
I do the exact same thing! 😁
CJRB Mini Pyrite.
1.87oz and a blade that will cut whatever you'd realistically need to cut while wearing shorts.

My summer carry is an Espada XL
Great call on the Real Steel Luna. I carry my wooden one quite a bit in summer because it weighs almost nothing.
Interesting that you wouldn't recommend the bugout or PM3 LW? But you would these others 2-3x th cost
I like that your incorporating more outside shots and sequences into your vids. Good move.
Hogue Deka warnie is my carry on pocket wore it all day yesterday and today in my OG style Champion fleece shorts.
I love my Bugout CF Elite with shorts. It's pretty light compared to my Ti scale knives
Been carrying my benchmade bailout a lot lately in m4 very light it's coated it's not stainless but live in Las Vegas very dry lol
That last knife is so nice but $300 is craaazzyy
The Spyderco UKPK is my favorite summer EDC. It weighs as much as a toothpick. It’s never failed me.
Great warm weather video Jared, Thanks 😎
Feel like ive not seen several of these yet. Might need to try the inside the waistband carry in my gym shorts
Purchased and installed Practical3DP’s Linerless Aluminum scales for the Civivi Vision FG. The solid aluminum scales make the knife incredibly light.
Thanks bro
Nice Video my friend that shows compact & portable knife which is easy to carry & those knives are beautiful .👍👏
Love the Kraken. It's a beast
Hell yeah, thank you man! I only ever wear cotton shorts, so always lookin for stuff that works for me 💯🫶.

Summertime is coming! Carbon fiber neutron is my official lightweight knife. CF native 5 and my quiet carries are also excellent
Sometimes ya just gotta say…Good work. Cheers
Quiet carry waypoint is def getting a lot of pocket time this summer.
Great video, I wear shorts often and always looking for the best lightweight knives and carry options.
Cannot recommend Quiet carry enough!! The Spyderco Manix 2 Salt in Magnacut is a great option, especially considering the size!
Great subject and perfect for this time of year. 👍
I want to get one of those titanium olitans replaceable blade knives to learn to freehand sharpen on
I’m 38 and haven’t worn shorts in over 20 yrs. I need to get out and have more fun just work too much it seems. Thanks for all the knife reviews.
Do you live near any creeks or rivers? If it's in the cards, you could probably use an evening of skipping stones.. maybe even take a dip. Life is short. I'm sure you've earned it!
I’m 34 and wear shorts all the time.
Get some shorts, dude.
Gotta work to live not live to work man. Get some shorts and get go ride a bike with some AC/DC in some headphones
I feel the no shorts thing, ain't nothing I can't do in a pair of jeans or work slacks.
That's terrible

Knife joker para 3 in cru-wear. Been great for shorts.
The Civivi Elementum works great for me

UPK-M2 Lite! Multitool capability and 2.6oz super comfortable thin profile grip integrated deep carry pocket clip
Bugout was made for this
Kizers new mini grouper is going to be a banger.

I believe the material for the Kraken scales is called "crystallized titanium". Suh-mooth!
Great video i was wondering about this topic
What you guys think about the WE banter?
Good video, thank you!
What’s the edge retention like on that titanium blade?
probably dog shit, titanium dive knives have terrible edge retention
Trm has the new magnacut neutrons and they gunna be offering hand done hollow grinds
Hey Jerad, c’mon brother, no love for the Manix 2 lightweight? 😂. That’s my main shorts carry. In the waistband of course! Great video as always, brother, take it easy
Nicely done my friend 🫵🏻😘👍🏼
Excellent vid. I’m definitely going to buy the 9 Ti EDC g10 utility. But you didn’t list prices! I’m relieved to find out it’s only around $27. 😮
Guess im glad i still have my broken skull in xhp. But i always carry a fixed blade as well.
No Kershaw Bel Air? MagnaCut and aluminum. Very thin.

Greetings from a Tiny Island in Maine, USA - With a Buck 110 in my cut off Levi’s shorts baby! 😅😅😅
the new amicus from kizer is light weight. i cant even tell its there on my gym shorts

It would have been good if you could have mentioned the weight of each one,, 🤔
The no flex zone comment 😂😂😂
I just clip my 6" Cold Steel Luzon in my (cargo shorts) pocket and tighten my belt a notch!
I also like corrosion resistant due to the fact that I sweat so easily
Benchmade 940-1 is the ultimate shorts knife, IMO.
BG BANG!!!!
My personal go to: Spyderco Para 3 LW with Applied Weapons Tech aluminum scales. Works for just about everything!
Than there is me who has carried my socom elite in gym shorts lol or a 229 Chaves I will not sacrifice my carry
You forgot the 537GY-1 BM bailout…
I skimmed through entire comment section looking a brother from another mother mention SOG Ultra XR, he was not here...
My Bugout carbon is definitely lightweight.
Worth watching just for the peanut gallery comments! 😅
Spyderco byrd harrier2 g10
Maching Shed
HOUGE DEKA MAGNACUT, the end all
No para 3 or drift ? Come on bruh
There's a ton of knives that could've made the list, it's his opinion
In Europe everything about carry/edc is banned by lefty since last century.
So good to known, but we can't 😅
What do you mean by that?
Banned by lefty?
