Yes, that is what they are. Victor D Brennan I think is the designer. Sometimes they're on the back of the penny at the bottom. I'm not an expert, but my dad is. He's been collecting since the sixties when he was a kid. That's just what I remember him telling me so.. may be a little off...

The writing on the penny is the guy who made the design back in 1909 he put his initials on the design VDB on the san Francisco version its the rarest most expensive penny. So they put it on there don't remember his name but thats what that is.

+David Zelek I think that was the initial idea but it hasn't been implemented. Instead, the cashier rounds up or down depending on the final price. Unless you pay with a card (debit or credit), then the price stands. It's one of the reasons I don't deal with cash anymore. And it's so much easier to just carry a card.

If you believe in superstitions then bad luck will come to you, not because they're true, but because you let these bad things happen. It the same as if you wish bad things on people, all you have to do is convince that person that bad things will happen. I blamed breaking my pocket mirror on my failing an exam, but really it was just because didn't revise. But that still being said, I won't do some of those things, because there's always the risk they're true...

Link asks what the markings on the penny are. If he means the markings underneath Lincoln's picture, it's the signature of Victor D Brenner, the guy who designed the Lincoln head penny. I was a coin collector for years.
Bjork attacked the reporter because the reporter spoke to her 9 year old son whom she tries to shield from publicity. She had told the press that she would not be answering questions at the airport and requested that they not show up out of respect for her son's privacy, but they showed up anyway. The particular reporter she attacked had also been stalking her relentlessly the entire time she was in Thailand, which was like a week or something.
