Thanks for tuning in, and I'm glad that you enjoyed it! Totally agree on the music front, too. I'm not a fan of adding in music and would much rather just hear the exhaust on any quiet moments 👍
Lovely to see footage of the Cwm Elan to Aberystwyth mountain road. I studied in Aberystwyth in the 90s and drove along it a couple of times, and took my parents down it when they came out to pick me up. The scenery is gorgeous; the despoliation of parts of it by the mining industry not so much. Reminds me a bit of the song "Paradise" by John Prine (about strip mining in the US). The odd thing is the stretches of two-lane road in between stretches of single-track. Clearly it was upgraded at some point, maybe for the mining, maybe because they imagined making it a main road.
I'm glad you liked the footage! The scenery really was breathtaking, and it's such a great part of the world. I'll have to check out that song, and I know what you mean about the road layouts. It's an interesting route for sure! Thanks for tuning in and all the best 👍
Good Hand Guards are great to keep the chill off as well. I recommend all 3. Heated Grips, Heated Gloves and good Hand Guards if your doing much winter riding. Biking's no fun if your hands are in pain. Same goes for any part of your body. Great Video, lovely senery. Bike sounds great at these speeds.
Thanks for the tips! I may have to put the hand guards back on, and if I end up keeping the bike long term, I'll be getting heated grips for sure! I've just taken delivery of winter trousers and boots - it's all out war against the cold 😂 Thanks for watching and all the best 👍
Nice video. Love the Elan Valley and around there. Never tried heated gloves as I use the Rukka GTX 3 Chamb Gore-tex (lobster) Gloves. Because the fingers are mainly together, like mittens, they stay nice and warm and don't really need the heated grips on. Just a thought, but the Scrambler looks ideal for that sort of leisurely ride out.
The Elan Valley is stunning isn't it. One of my favourite places, and I had never even been before getting a bike! Those gloves sound great. I'll have to check those out for sure. Although if I end up keeping the bike long-term, I'll get heated grips as well. All the best, and thanks for watching 👍
Great video m8. Have walked many times in the Elan Valley but have never taken the bike over the mountain road. Daft really as I too only live about an hour and half away from Rhayader. Will have to rectify that in Spring! 🙂 Subscribed.
Thanks for tuning in mate, appreciate the support! It's such a great route and I would definitely recommend you go for it. I'll be heading back there often next year, as this is a firm favourite. All the best 👍
Another beautiful video of Wales. Such an interesting scenery and also, taking the mountain routes and going to Sea side (right? or not? lol) is awesome!
It was great. Really enjoyed being out in the week for a change enjoying the quiet roads! I highly recommend the gloves mate. They are one of my best purchases for sure! Thanks for watching and all the best 👍
I did that route earlier in the year. It is a stunning bike ride. A little tip for cold legs (same for upper body too), I wear berghaus waterproof over trousers, they seem to block out the cold wind as well as the rain, so I've started to wear them when it reaches a certain temp outside 🥶 plus they are extremely lightweight and packable. Thanks for sharing, and see you on your next adventure 👊 🤙 🤘
Thanks for watching mate. I agree, that route is just amazing! The scenery was incredible and it will be a favourite of mine for sure. That's a great tip, and I'll give it a go myself next time. I had thick thermals and trousers and was still feeling it, so that could make the difference! All the best 👍
Hi loved the vid' mate, consider getting an all in one fleece like divers wear under the Dry suit, I've just recently got one and the difference is amazing. Just another idea. Best wishes. 👍
@someoldude7578 thanks mate, appreciate you watching! And that's a great idea, I'll definitely look into that as well! Anything to keep warm as I was an ice block when I got home yesterday 😂
Thanks mate! Abber looks fantastic, and I'll definitely be back in summer! I don't really spend much time planning routes tbh. Most of the time, I just head in the direction I want to go and wing it when I get there. I planned this route when I got to the Elan Valley visitor centre and just followed the signs for the mountain road. Worked out well for this one as it was a great route 👍
Hi , enjoyed the video , I have a speed 400 , love it , the scrambler is too tall for my elderly legs , regarding the bar risers , are the cables and brake pipe long enough .?
Thanks for watching! I love the speed 400 and would have got one had I not been too tall. The bar risers fit perfectly with lots of play left for the cables. I did talk about it in more detail but had to cut it out as I couldn't get my words out due to the cold! I did originally buy some that raised them by 22mm and drew them in closer. The cables didn't allow me to fit that one. This one just raises it by 18mm, though, and I think that's the sweet spot (for my bike anyway). All the best, and thanks again for tuning in 👍
I love the 400x to be honest and think it would be my perfect bike if it was more suited for a pillion. It's been fantastic so far, though, and not skipped a beat, so I would highly recommend it to anyone. I agree too, the green is by far the best colour! Thanks for tuning in and all the best 👍
Us four oldies did that road when we stayed in Lampeter for a few days, it’s really nice and weather was decent as well, it was summer. Why haven’t you hand guards thought they were standard on that bike, could be wrong of course. Those heated gloves look good, I have Yamaha heated grips on my Tracer 7 GT and they are pretty useless, gloves would be a better idea. Tempted to trade in my Tracer for the scrambler, I’m 76 soon so that would suit me, lighter than the tracer and more fun I reckon.
It's such a great route, and I think it will become a regular favourite of mine for sure! As for the handguards, I just didn't like the look of them tbh, and they now won't fit with my bar end mirrors. I still have them lying around though so my go back if it gets too cold in the winter months! I would defo recommend the Scrambler. It's not let me down once, is a blast to ride and is so easy to live with due to the low weight. Thanks for tuning in and all the best 👍
Am Jealous, not been out on mine for a couple of weeks. Didn't want to get it dirty as I need to trade it in now I have my full license now. It took me about 2 hours to clean it last time, scraping half of Wales land off it..😂. Must have a ride out next year together.
Haha such a pain this time of year! I went out today, and it took me 3 washes to get the bike looking half decent again 😂 Sounds like a plan, though - always up for a road trip somewhere. All the best, and thanks for watching 🙏
This video is just gorgeous, what a ride, Wales looks amazing!
Yes, amazing, stunning scenery. I've done it in all 4 seasons and it looks so different each time.
Ride safe and take care.
It's such a great route, and I can't wait to ride it in summer. Thanks for watching, and all the best 👍
Thanks for a brilliant video, it is so refreshing to hear the bike rather than the head banging music some people seem to think is needed.
Thanks for tuning in, and I'm glad that you enjoyed it! Totally agree on the music front, too. I'm not a fan of adding in music and would much rather just hear the exhaust on any quiet moments 👍

4th or 5th gear; that's my speed these days. I absolutely enjoy exploring at a slower pace on my 400x. Just a marvelous mount!
I'm the same! I just enjoy a nice chilled out ride rather than thrashing it everywhere, so the 400x is perfect!
Thanks for watching and all the best 👍
Looks a great ride out , keep it up .
Thanks! Hopefully many more adventures to come 😀
I did that route on my Himalayan from Bristol a few months ago, then down to Aberporth before heading back to Bristol. A great ride.
I agree. It's an amazing route and will be one of my favourites now for sure!
Thanks for tuning in and all the best 👍

Why choose between the mountains and the beach when you can have both 😅 thanks for tuning in though mate, more random road trips to come 👍
cracking ride out when its cold because the roads are clear of traffic .Them rst heated gloves are worth looking at
It was great. Really enjoyed being out in the week for a change enjoying the quiet roads!
I highly recommend the gloves mate. They are one of my best purchases for sure!

Abber is a nice place, great in the summer months.

I have the exact same 👍🏻 Green is definitely the best colour
