Really cool review! I was once gifted a bottle of the old JW Green and it was my favourite JW, even up until now. Thanks to this review I think that I will go out looking for a new bottle of JW Green.
I once poured a big glass of Laphroaig 10 when drunk... so I put it back in the bottle and drank it later. The smoke flavor was barely there. Having an older opened bottle is going to change the flavor.
If you left a glass out for a while and then poures it back then it definately would change as its been exposed to air for a long while. How long did you wait to go back to it as well? Next day or many months or years later. His bottle is older yes but only open a few months. I do agree a bottle changes as the fill level lowers over time and more air is in the bottle. Sometimes better sometimes worse. You can always gas it or parafilm it as well. We have tried both with success. Thank you for watching.
hot damn. You all read my mind. I wanted to do this comparison but my local store sold out of the older bottling. Thanks for doing this. Super solid review.
I'm new to the sipping whiskey scene (do in part to the guys over at the whiskey tribe/ the whiskey vault). I started with Jamison and ginger ale. For the last year I have been drinking straight whiskeys and bourbons. I was recently given a bottle of the old label in the box. After a quick online search I'm hesitant to open it do to its increasing value. Thanks for the side comparison. I will be at least buying a new bottle before doing anything with the old.
I personally am a fan of opening all the whiskey to try. I would certainly encourage you to get a new one and maybe save the old one to drink on a special occasion.
Our journey into Whiskey Tube was through the same source Josh. Those two opened up a lot of doors in the Whiskey World at large. Glad you found some value in the content. Cheers!
The "old" bottle looks quite low. Do you know how long it was open? My experience is that with my peated whisky the longer the bottle has been open and the lower the liquid level is the more muted the aroma and flavors become to me. I don't have a super good nose or pallet but that is what I have experienced. That is my two cents
It can happen but if the seal is good I have not had too many problems with that. It is Will's bottle so I am sure he will be able to answer it soon. I dont think it was open that long from what I remember.
We got the bottle in April. I was open for about 4 months when we filmed this. I do agree with your assessment of peat dialing down as the bottle diminishes. That could have played some role in the change.
The Green dream! I Love the Green!

You definitely should. It is great.
Loved Sarra's thumbs up at the end! LOL
;-)
I also really enjoy the Green label.

Thank you and thanks for being a new subscriber.
Cool review. Way to hang in there with the peat Sarra! I haven't had the old one but I think your notes on the current green are spot on.
Sarra is a trooper. She is going to hate Campbeltown night in a few weeks.
Haha, thanks. Gotta take one for the team. :)
I didn’t think Green was all that peaty......of course I like eating ghost peppers fresh off the plant.......🤔🤔🤔
Great review guys. Green label is my favorite as well and also the only one I'll buy. At 40 bucks it's hard to pass up
Charles it is the best one I have tried of the core range for sure. $40 i wish it was that cheap here. It's between 55 and 65 here.
Agreed! Especially for $40. I think it's closer to $60 around us (but for a 15yr age stated that's still not bad).
Since I like peaty flavors. My pick would also be the new bottle.
while i had this i was like "meh its ok" once it was gone i was like "i miss it soo much"
It happens. Thanks for watching.

We are big whiskey tribe fans as well.

Well done, Very fun!! I really like the new Green Label
Thank you. See the new green is great. My favorite standard Johnnie Walker expression. Cheers

Tom it was only open a few months. Will just really liked it and drank a lot of it
@@WhiskeyCrusaders Yeah, that is not enough time at all to oxidize the whisky. Good whisky is hard to keep in the bottle. Cheers!
@@trhoads07 agree when you really like it that is what happens. It was bottle his dad had for a few years unopened before he got it.
