I totally agree with you! Second gen groups are the rawest when it comes to live performances. They can apply new colors to their songs when performing. Tbh, i noticed that groups nowadays are really afraid on encore stages when back then the winner will really perform the whole song live.

Joy from red velvet reminds me of sunny a lot. their vocal can easily distinguish and somehow it's like "creamy-milky" texture in their vocal LOL idk how to describe but yes sunny is the most unique vocalist out here! her range somehow sounds different than others
Favorite part is how Tiffany always hypes up the crowd! Been to 3 of their concerts (1 group, 1 taeyeon solocon, 1 tiffany solocon) and it's a super fun experience. I totally felt and thought YES!!! THIS IS WHAT I PAID FOR AND IT WAS TOTALLY WORTH IT!
Idols nowadays feels like a bunch of dancers pretending to be singers. They focused so much on perfecting the dance rather than the singing. But it is not their fault, it is the company's fault. The only group that focus on singing is mamamoo and red velvet. They have simple choreography and intense singing technique in their song.
I wouldn't say that MM and RV are the only 3rd gen groups that actually sing live and dance nowadays, but I definitely can point at which group consists of dancers who pretend to be singers. Ofc, I won't name the group, but many of you probably can guess which one.
I think companies now-a-days just want to make things seem more perfect than it needs to be and I wish that the idol companies and performance stages would realize we want it as real as possible, imperfections and all, they need to turn that backtrack down and quit editing voices 😭 I miss these girls so much!
