We were too, and I miss mine so much as well. I do know how lucky I was to have him for as long as I did, but I doubt my heart will ever heal. You're not alone. Growing up my dad was a violent alcoholic, every other day I knew what was going to happen! It was a life of hell on that every other day, but when sober he was the best dad a human could ask for. About 14 years ago my dad almost died from his liver being done. It took his grandbabies hearing the words hes dying right now from a doctor to straighten him out. He's been sober 14 years and that dad that I seen every other day is a stranger to my children they dont believe that grandpa ever drank. He is the man that I always knew was hidden in that soul, the one I would see on the odd days. I'm so thankful that even tho he had issues he worked his butt off and provided everything we wanted and needed. He and my mom have been married 45 years! I married a man just like him, the sober him. I don't let drinking around me so he gave up the occasional beer to love me! And I'm so thankful!

Daughters NEED their dads. My dad is the best man and dad there ever was! Has been there for me through it all with me and I’m so very blessed. I’m now married and it’s very difficult to not compare everything back to how my dad is as a man!

Gigi is 13, we were apart for 10yrs after her birth. She has a brother with her mom, and 5 brothers she never knew, through me. The youngest boy is 28, all boys married, with kids. . .they all love her to pieces, as do I, as I do daughters-in-law and 12 grandbabies. I am 72, and thank God I never drank, had great mom and dad as I grew up. Dad died when I was her age. . .he did a great job, while managing an extremely busy military flight career from the end of WWI to beginning of Viet Nam. I thank God everyday for where I have been, where I am, where I will be going, my parents, and all these "kids" ( all the boys bigger than me ). The love never stops, and bless the folks who compose, write and perform these music gems

Best to you Tiffany. I was an alcoholic from the age of 16 and that included the first 7 years of my marriage. Not violent just a different man making stupid decisions that were terrible for a wife to have to endure. I had 2 little girls that were the Joy's of my life though and when the 3rd came that was the year God got changed my heart and took away my alcoholism in one instant of heart felt prayer. My wife had left me for the 3rd time and rightly so. It was then I realized how badly I wanted my family back and needed God to help me. He did so with a miracle and I've never needed to drink again. A real miracle that I and my family will forever be grateful for. That's been 41 years ago and we've been married 48 years now. I'm lucky to have a woman who knew just how to use tough love on a man she didnt give up on. I will love her and my 3 daughters and grandkids till I die and do my best to make up for those bad years...there are no guarantees on your marriage but some marriages ARE for life #eatyourcereal...just gotta find the right person I guess. And trust In God.

This touched my soul to the core bc I lost my daddy unfortunately to lung cancer 8 yrs ago, he was only 54 yrs old!! He was thr greatest man I've ever known, he raised 3 babies all by himself and he was a farmer so we were poor but I never seen it break my daddy down!! He was a hard worker in the fields, then came home fed the animals & worked his 3 acre garden until dark, came in cooked supper for us & made sure we all had baths before he finally went to bed and he was back up before daylight to start it all over again!! He loved life and he loved his family w his heart & soul!! It's hard even 8 yrs later at 43 yrs old I miss him everyday he was my HERO! HE LOVED ME UNCONDITIONALLY!❤

My Daddy gained his angel wings and halo on January 8th, 2023. My Daddy was my knight in shining armor, no man can ever compare to the man my Daddy was and yes he set that bar high. So glad he did to bc I've never settled for less than what I know I deserve. It's always good to remember that fathers love their daughters as best they can it's just that some are more challenged and stressed than others I still love my dad who is always working and didn't have much time I always wanted a dad who could read to them every night but my dad was extremely tired by then today I pray for those children who have dads that are so severely lost in drugs and or alcohol that they don't even know where they are

Every time I listen to it, tears fill my eyes and I realize the effect I have on our Babies. It is in the words of this song, I find myself struggling to see how I filled such huge shoes, that my Baby would see me in such an incredible way.
