Actually their paths are not random, they do have a pattern. When they kill someone or stopped chasing someone they change their pattern. Sometimes they can actually change patterns ON THEIR OWN I found this out when you dont want a monster to go to where you want to, make them chase you go to safe spot then they change pattern. Found out when I beat this hardcore solo. By the way the map is really useful for speedrun! Tysm!
I think what you're talking about is an AI path, which case it is randomized AI Paths don't follow any specific pattern but the ones they're given. If they go that way, they go that way. But like you said, if they do see you, they will change their pattern because that's just built into the AI path.

I know a easier route to the butterfly From the start go straight, and then run to the bush nearest down the bath. Run to the bush across from you and then from that bush, don't sprint pass the house. Sprint towards another tunnel near the right and then you will see a huge bush. Then if you look straight from that bush you can see a small bush. Sprint towards it and then the butterfly is there
My friends and i took over 1 hour on that maze not knowing what to do lol but thank goodness i found this video (every time croc passes me it beat boxes XD)

its kinda funny that shr calls Hanzu Croc edit: I think it's best to do the white blade first because it is usually best not to do too much pressure on the black blade immediatly if you are quite new

0:32 What I do I getting the white blade, go through the bridge and go to get the blue spirit , then I place the white blade and hide in the bushes (the left one on the map) , then I dig out the key ( or use the spirit first ) , get black blade, place it , hide in the bush(the same bush I mention before), rush to exit , easy.
I think luna yasha did another video on this part, so I'm gonna tell people how I do this part; it is quick but a bit dangerous if you don't practice. Okay, so 30 % of the time when you're about to get in the maze, you will see the lady walking to the right path, once you cannot see her/hear her anymore follow her, if you do not see her then hide in the bush in the right path cause she might be coming(turning off your lantern is recommended), wait a few seconds then keep going right until you see the house. once you get the light blade wait a few seconds incase one of them comes(mostly the lady) if they dont come after a few seconds or so go left and back to spawn but make sure you sprint because its risky. then go to the left path and in the first bush, peeking outside of the bush is NOT recommended unless you're in normal mode. it is suggested to stick to the wall whilst in a bush cause you know how lady and croc break the rules (getting inside some bushes) you will probably hear at least one of them so stay in the bush until you do not hear/see them anymore and go to the big bush on the right. again, stick to the wall and stick to the left side of the bush you will commonly hear/see them but mostly depend on your hearing sense then, go to the left until you see a tiny bush and mud to the left of it, get in the bush and if it is clear then dig up the mud; you will hear croc most of the time but do not chicken out/run to the bush unless the sound gets louder then you can get to the bush(hearing senses are important in this part). now after that get the butterfly then sprint to the big bush, wait until one of them goes to the right then follow them, if they go to the right of the house you can go to the mud however if they dont do that, TURN BACK until they return from the dark blade house and go elsewhere. now get to the mud and look the opposite direction of the dark blade house so if you hear one of their sounds getting louder you can sprint to the house easier/quicker. after you've gotten the key sprint to the dark blade house and get the dark blade, now most of the time they will come to that area so make sure to not sprint while headed to the big house (to save stamina) if the coast is clear dequip your lantern but dont equip the blades and just walk over the stand until both blades have been offered, however if you hear them run back to the dark blade house. once you have offered both blades, run back to the bush next to the green light (the first bush) and wait till coast is clear/save stamina then run back to spawn then boom! there you have it.
after offering the blades , if ur in normal mode , ( make sure ur not doing nightmare ) i tend to run into kazeko or hanzu , and then when i respawn its so near lol
What’s so annoying about this part is that stupid croc always gets me, when I’m in a bush the croc is always travelling really close to bushes so I cant even hide well. It didn’t even find me but the croc touched me and killed me, the ai is so trash why is it always travelling really close to me? At this point it was happening for every bush I was hiding it was always the croc not even the big tall one. Now I don’t even trust bushes anymore because of how unsafe it is, I just get something and run to the next part I really only use bushes when I’m seriously trapped.
I hate this part. It’s not hard but just the thought of trying to hide and get in a bush as quick as you can if u hear a loud Michael Jackson wearing a gothic black dress is just... terrifying as hell

Tip: you can use the Lantern or if you got the White blade first it will make you dig faster

Some bushes don't hide you
Edit: If you were in a bush that isn't safe, you need to stay behind the bush more
