Brake Bleeding
Ready to service your BMW brake system? Have you installed new stainless steel brake lines, brake guides or other components?
It’s recommended by BMW to change your brake fluid every 2 years. This video will show you how to just that as well as bleed your brakes if there is air in the lines. When you have air in the lines performance will suffer and you’ll probably have a check light. Normally this happens when the reservoir gets too low
When choosing brake fluid, choose one for your application. If hull only be on the street, a lower temperature fluid will be fine. IF you’ll be on the track a lot you’ll want to use high tea fluids. Below are a selection of fluids for each application
A few notes: Always begin bleeding procedure with the right rear and work our way to the left rear to the right front and to the left front. You do this as to work closer and closer to the brake master cylinder. If you do not you will most likely get fluids mixed from the old and new. Always keep pressure in your system at 15 psi. you’ll want a brake bleeding kit as well as a 9mm or 11mm wrench for the bleeding valves. Some applications are 9 while there are 11 Brake fluid is corrosive so make sure to clean off the caliper when through with each one.
