    hey so just a tip, epoxy is actually a weird chemical where, after long term exposure to it, you can suddenly become allergic to it. a lot of professionals (including my sculpture professor) use barrier cream or nitrile gloves when using it, just to keep that from happening. thought you might want to know that. you are pretty talented.

    Hahaha lol, I just reculpted a mane on the exact same horse, colour and everything! I didn't remove the old mane first though because I needed the volume. (My horse is on the scruffy side.)

    very great work ! i don't sculpt manes exactly like you but we use basically the same way. your sculpting is very clear, it has the breyer factory style somehow, i find it very cool because when you look at your model, you don't see immediatly that it had been resculpted ! it's the problem with most of the resculpted models, sometimes it "breaks" with the factory style and it's not very realistic. anyway great work again.
    btw, i found your channel few days ago and i fall in love with it ! you seem a very fun & nice person :)

    When I sculpting the first time (and so far only time) my apoxie was really sticky, did I not use enough hardener or is it meant to be like that?

    • @SamTheElisrian
      @SamTheElisrian  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Peach Tree Breyers It is sticky naturally. But if you keep it wet and keep your hands wet, it won't be so sticky :)

    Hey, long shot here but I was curious, Im just starting to get into customizing and I would love to re sculpt some mane and tails on models, where is the best place to buy Apoxie Sculpt? (In Canada preferably) I found a website but Im having trouble getting my email confirmation to go through to get the info. Would they have any at Michael's? Thanks! And great video, really helped!

      Hunter Schmidt. Hi, that's so great that you're getting into customizing, it's so much fun! Some craft stores may have apoxie, but I ordered mine online through Amazon. Its cheaper and often a better deal.

      Thank you so much! This tutorial helped a lot as I've been meaning to hopefully re do the mane on a model I have been trying to work on lol do you have any tips on doing tails? I have another body model my friend gave to me that doesn't have one.

    • @SamTheElisrian
      @SamTheElisrian  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hunter Schmidt You're welcome! If you're sculpting a tail from scratch, it's best to start length of the tail with a wire base to create the 'bone', then cover the basic shape of it with foil and hot glue to create the 'muscle' and then lastly use your apoxie to give it the 'skin' or in this case, the hair. This will give the tail a firm base and keep it from wilting as you sculpt and it will also save you from wasting apoxie.

    • @eternal8song
      @eternal8song 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Hailey Barlow you can usually find a pack of them at Michaels or another craft store in the sculpting/clay section. i'd guess a set would be around $12

    Hi it's a nice video but I think if you make little pieces likes sausages and put it on the horse it gives you the opportunity to build up layers of hair. You can make much more nice details and it looks more lifelike . Your technique is good for a standing horse and it's not looking very realistic. I know your video is old now, you're probably way better now.
