I just purchased this same unit and waiting on it to be installed. I visited a shop that had this unit and a hummingbird solix and the simulator demo had the solix a lot better resolution. However yours seems to be pretty clear. I’m hoping I didn’t buy the wrong one
Congratulations, this unit works great and puts me on the fish. I know the hummingbirds are great units from what I’ve seen, but I’ve never personally used one so I can’t say. But I will say all units demo mode have extremely clear pictures…it’s takes a bit of time watching a few videos and tweaking your setting to get it right. What I like about my Garmin is how easy it is to fly through all the screens and switch my settings in a instant. Every time I get on the water I gotta tweak my contrast and brightness just a bit and then I’m ready to go. Hope all the best to you with your new purchase. Catch em all buddy 🎣😎
@@jayess813 This unit will most definitely help, it honestly took me few months to start getting the hang of it and really dialing it in. You just gotta spend a lot of time on it. I spent hours in the garage in demo mode setting it all up and the first time I went on the water I didn’t even fish. I just was messing with my setting and trying to figure out what works best with what. It’s hard cause you spend all this money on a unit and all you want is to get on the fish but until you really understand it, it’s tough to do. I have a question about the side scan. My understanding is that the black section is the water column directly under the boat. How is it that in your side scans you can see under the docks in the black areas? On my 54uhd and 56uhd, the dock is seen in the colored areas rather than in the black like yours. I run my boat as close to the dock as I can as well. I have not used the left or right only selection. Maybe that will help.
That’s a great question. And everything you just mentioned I completely agree with. Your side scan sonar shoots down and out to the sides. So it’s scanning crappie that are suspended in the water column. It also has to do with how deep of water your fishing. Tbh most of the docks that I catch crappie on in my area are usually 20-25+ deep. When I’m up against shallow docks you can’t see a water column beneath the dock that we’ll and my GT54 isn’t strong enough to put out a good picture. If your able to set it to just scan one side it will help greatly with the picture, especially if you have a smaller screen like I do. I’m sure your GT56 would have a clearer picture also. It also has to do with the range your scanning. I usually keep my GT54UHD between 50-60. It can’t reach out any farther than that in this deep water I fish. I’m gonna leave a link beneath this of a video a little bit better at explaining everything for side imaging. It’s short and gets to the point. Helped me out a ton when I first started. It will help you understand a bit better why you can see them in the water column. Hope this helps!
@@Paulcatchesemall thanks for the info. I have the 93sv and will try looking to one side. With docks around 10 or less ft may be why I can't see under them in the water column. I appreciate your videos alot. Keep them coming.
