    The reverb compression is a new trick for me, thanks!

      it's a game changer , I see myself using it with plucks & vocals to get a really transient mix down.

    I watched more than 5 videos of side chain on fl..and i was like side chain is just adjusting volume...
    Now i watched just 1 video on Ableton and understand the whole concept of side chain....🙏 straight to the point,Great explanation..keep making great videos

      I was the exact same, I literally would automate track volume dips to emulate this effect. Needless to say, this will save me quite a bit of headache

    Never considered side chaining effects with the original sound. There are so many places I would have done this in the past if I had known about it sooner! Thanks!!

    that was super clear.
    the other tutorial spent 1 hour explaining sidechain, but have nothing obvious to show, and i left more confused than ever.
    they care more about the little unimportant detail, than actually show the dang Thing

    i didnt know this was called sidechaining. I used to add automation to gain of the tracks, and ig "manually reduce the gain" whenever the kick drum played. Had the same sound and effect, but this is so much easier lmao

    So rad, thanks for the video. n00b question: why would you use the reverb effect that's on the right of your arrangement view rather than applying the reverb directly to the audio/midi track? Just curious what the best workflow is.

    • @indyminnich2672
      @indyminnich2672 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Using a return track is its own separate audio from the original. Try soloing it. It adds for a bigger sound instead of changing the original audio.

    What do i do if i want to freeze a track and bounce it to audio, but can't because the sidechain compression interferes with it and its not able to freeze tracks? Is there a simpler way to sidechain while still being able to freeze the sidechained tracks?

    the problem I have with this is that im not able to make the release shorther than the kick is. I usually want to have very low release on the compression so it goes down and up faster than the lenght of the kick, but with this method it has to wait for the kick to end before it goes up. Is there any way to do this?

    • @supremeone1014

      Use a short muted click that plays alongeside the kick to trigger the compressor

    It’s a quick solution but destroys sound quality. Problem is it compresses the entire track instead of only the frequencies colliding...

    • @craigobrien7962
      @craigobrien7962 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You've probably figured this out by now, but if you're using a drum kit or rack and you want to add effects to just one component (eg kick drum only) you can double click the cell for the kick drum and any effects you add to the chain will be for just that component.
