It's a common buisiness practice. There are only 40 million black people in America but there are 300 million white people. The more your comedy appeals to different audiences, the more bookings you can get and increase your booking fee. Ultimate goal of most black comedians is to get out of mostly black comedy clubs and audiences and appeal to diverse crowds. The way you do that is to be proactive with your career by doing line ups of comedians with different races. Even in the movies it's the same. The biggest black movie stars are the ones that do movies where they are usually the only black star. All the other co-stars are usually white.Look at Denzel, Samuel, Halle. They appeal and are known to different communities outside of the black community. The actors that are mostly known for doing movies with an all black cast don't get paid as much because the target audience of potential paying customers is smaller

No black comedians just wants to be branded as just a black comic because there is only 40 million black people in Americs and 300 million white people. You have bigger earning potential if you can do diverse crowds than just appeal to a black audience
