I like that Lisa kept breaking the fourth fall during her lines. While everyone else was immersed with the story of the video she's the only one who kept looking towards the camera during her solos.
As a 3 year old until the age of 7 I would watch nothing on our little tele except steps, I was mesmerised by them. I had a video of them singing all their songs on concert, I watched it over and over again for years instead of kids programs. My mum has videos of me, a smiley little blonde boy in his pijamas with a bowl hair cut and little blue glasses watching it until I would fall asleep. RANDOM SPEECH ON TH-cam! I just came across this video then was all wowowwowowowed.
It does sound rather solemn in places, except the chorus which sounds a little brighter compared to the rest of the song. However a beautiful song and ever since I heard this I've always found this composition intriguing
They are a wonderful group their vocals blends perfectly well together, I love how they are themselves , more than anything we need positivity in this world
I just discovered this masterpiece. The musical chords are absolutely gorgeous, and the group's performance is outstanding! For some reason, "Heartbeat" isn't included on my 2-disc STEPS "5-6-7-8: The Collection" CD set. Luckily, I was able to find the CD single on eBay. Had I not been able to find it available, it would have haunted me forever! "Heartbeat" is a MUST-HAVE track that I simply, well.... must have!
Claire has the most wonderful, singing voice - so clear, crisp and with a beautiful tone. She is a better singer than many other female solo singers out there. I never understood the criticism they got back then & never will. This song is truly amazing and has always been one of my all time favourites of Steps.
My favorite of them all. She has so calm and beautiful voice. Relax me so cool. I love her face with long hair and energy she brings to my heart. So soft, true and tender like velvet.
Haha The first minute and a half was like a Folger's Coffee commercial.... And then it "morphed" into Power Rangers meets The Wizard of Oz. Thanks some damn skill right there.
Who ever wrote this song is at higher level conscience i see the light hearts beat as one love remains we are one one love one conscience one life in this vessel compassion and righteousness love to all !!!
I was listening to this when I had a car crash. It doesn't bring back past trauma, it reminds me of the mad scramble to switch the music player off before anyone arrived to help me.
This tune passed me by when it came out, mostly because I was all ‘don’t gimme none of that pop crap’, and into other stuff. But it has to be said, this time is a hell of a composition. It’s great.
Yusuf Kassim hi, we have a Facebook group called 'STEPS Southeast Asia'. Come join us. Just type in the search box 'STEPS Southeast Asia'. See ya there. :)
what this music video is trying to portray, is a story of love, friendship and memories. the evil ice queen wants to take all of these things away, but the power of friendship just makes them stronger. the reason that one guy goes outside alone, is because he's troubled by his past and needs time for himself, but the queen saw this as weakness and took advantage of this poor man. truly an inspiring tale.
Making me smile down memory lane. Even though Steps were very successful in their own time, I tend to think they were underrated, much in the same way ABBA were. And yet both were absolutely brilliant.
UploadYourMum hi, we have a Facebook group called 'STEPS Southeast Asia'. Come join us. Just type in the search box 'STEPS Southeast Asia'. See ya there. :)
@Marvin Morawski In the same way as people refer to 'bubble gum pop' to denote a kind of heirarchy, even though ABBA sold plenty in their own time, they were regarded as less accomplished as musicians than their contemporaries. Like... not being taken seriously. Making sales and being respected are sometimes different. I think Steps got bracketed like that, and it reminds me of the ABBA situation.
@Marvin MQZ ABBA have been through a period of re-evaluation - they were massive in the 70's before becoming really unfashionable in the 80's probably right up to the release of the Gold album.
You are right they is nothing like steps its they music and songs I seen them 4 times in concert and meet them at they 20th anniversary concert they are so lovely to meet it made my dream come true i miss a hospital appointment To meet them
I remember as a kid I used to watch STEPS: The Video all the time. I knew the music videos off by heart and everything! That video was my childhood, now if you'll excuse, I'm gonna hunt that VHS down in my garage...
Why do people have to obsess over who was the best singer? Claire has a great voice but Lisa's warm vocals in the bridge at 2.45 make the song lMHO along with Faye's high harmonies.
Awesome feel good tune, when we were all younger than we are now, some called it crap at the time but nostalgia rules, I'm not afraid to say that I shed a tear when I hear this, ....the old days, the old days....
Jodie Mcloughlin I wasn't born in the 90s I was born in 2003 but I like steps because my mum used to listen to steps all the time but she grew out of them and now I like them and I can't get enough of them they're so awesome just like you said steps forever
The music industry broke records for big-budget music videos in the 90s. This is no exception. You can't tell but Steps weren't actually snow-mobiling down the French alps. It's all clever green screen affects that are common in massive blockbuster movies nowadays.
Yes i know Steps were only known in the UK, however thier songs would not sound out of place on any Disney films or tv shows, any American tween films or shows, anything based on Barbie or Sabrina The Teenage Witch. That being said, both British and American rom coms I could definitely imagine hearing thier songs on. Edit: often loved and found the composition of this song interesting. In hindsight they remind me of BTS and BlackPink, something about them & thier sound

@German Morawski Maybe not but we can sure try to stop it, better than doing nothing.
I think we were all just ignorant to it all back then and living out lives.
Lisa, Claire and Faye are very beautiful.
I remember thinking Claire was the most beautiful woman in the world back in my teens.....Looking at her now, I still feel that I might be right :D
Faye😍
I was all about Lisa back then, but now I've converted to Faye 😉👌🏼
#teamfaye
Clare always!!!!!! Beautiful xxxxx💕🥰 & she’s the voice behind them all!!!!!!
I agree with you Bob. Claire is the best! Talent and Beauty!
I like that Lisa kept breaking the fourth fall during her lines. While everyone else was immersed with the story of the video she's the only one who kept looking towards the camera during her solos.

Aww, I loved Faye's albino Bob Marley phase.
This is their best song ever, in my humble opinion...so melancholically positive
Trueee!!
It does sound rather solemn in places, except the chorus which sounds a little brighter compared to the rest of the song.
However a beautiful song and ever since I heard this I've always found this composition intriguing
I like the way you make me feel also.
Whenever winter comes, I feel the need to watch this video ☃❄🌨🏔

loll this was the top hit when i was born in january '99
I used to think this video was so bad it's good, now I see that it's pure genius. Faye & Lee fighting those dwarfs is hilarious.
Are they dwarfs or midgets?
Little people both words are highly offensive to them fab video anyways I remember it well always love how it's basically the snow queen
I always laugh at Claire's mouth movements when she sings😁
Steps were ABBA of my Generation and always have been, they were definitely ABBA of the late 90s 💙
Great song. I'm here. 2020.
They are a wonderful group their vocals blends perfectly well together, I love how they are themselves , more than anything we need positivity in this world
This song has been great fun bit people having seen before
when you're 8, this video is the best thing in the world. At 24 however, I am able to see it flaws somewhat. Still a great song, though!
True :)
Jonathan David Gannon agree.. best songs of that time.. 😘😘😘😘 miss them all

My favorite of them all. She has so calm and beautiful voice. Relax me so cool. I love her face with long hair and energy she brings to my heart. So soft, true and tender like velvet.
She's probably the most accomplished of their vocalists, though I've got a really soft spot for Lisa's solo bit in this one.
Claire Richards, such an absolutely beautiful singer on this track, passion, beauty and emotion from the start.
True
I'd say that while she's often underappreciated, she's probably one of thr best vocalists of her generation.
The video reminds me of Narnia (the lion the witch and the wardrobe!) Fantastic song
My Favourite Pop Group are Steps because I know the words by Heart
I hope they make a HD version of this video too 💕 So 90s but so good. One of my favourite songs.
Soon. Exactly because it is from the 90s it was good. Today's "music" sucks at so many levels! I can't take it! At all!
I've just noticed how flexible Lisa was to make that high kick to the snow queen's face
It's 2021 and I'm still listening to this masterpiece 💞
Claire is so beautiful 😍
No one can beat Claire! I love how talented and beautiful she is! 😍😍😍
2021 still listening...
all girls are stunning
Imagine bein stuck in a log cabin with those lot . Rather be kidnapped by dwarfs I think 😂😂
Miss being a kid, listening to my music in my room with no worries.
I still love Faye she always been my favourite and I love her hair in dreadlocks ❤️❤️

That's like the best way to describe it. Haha got it in one :')
Lisa was such a babe back then...
how on earth did he not hear them coming i mean their wearing metal which clinks together
Who ever wrote this song is at higher level conscience i see the light hearts beat as one love remains we are one one love one conscience one life in this vessel compassion and righteousness love to all !!!
I love steps songs, think the songs are sent from up high deffo xx
I was listening to this when I had a car crash. It doesn't bring back past trauma, it reminds me of the mad scramble to switch the music player off before anyone arrived to help me.
Looooool
They always seem so happy during their videos even if their singing about really depressing subjects such as heartbreak lol
This is one hell of a well-crafted pop song.
One of my most favorite STEPS songs. I love and miss them so much!
My heart is not for everyone but you know that
0:48 she has amazing vocals.
The Steps song Heartbeat was released in 1999!
This tune passed me by when it came out, mostly because I was all ‘don’t gimme none of that pop crap’, and into other stuff. But it has to be said, this time is a hell of a composition. It’s great.
This deserves to be in 4K..this is such a beautiful song!
This is camp brilliance
Bingeing Steps tonight. My good friend, Johnny, loved them. He passed away a year ago today. He was 43.
Always feel sorry for H in this vidio =/ one of the best steps song ever, have been listening to it since i was 6 and still know all of the words !!
Who's still listening January 2021?

Massive budget Steps must of had for this! Sleigh rides and snowmobiles aren't cheap ;) Looks so real
I forgot just how hardcore my 8 year old self shipped Lisa and Lee, before i even knew what shipped meant
Still awesome in 2020 , Who's wiv me ?
The late 90s were a magical time for me, I would die to go back and do it all again!

Cheers dits.
i dont remember making this comment, the past has come back to haunt me
Claire has the best voice in Steps nobody can deny it.
So true!
And that's why she got most of the lines leading to everyone getting jealous. She is by far the best.
@@S050683 so true

Faye is so underrated is this song
Making me smile down memory lane. Even though Steps were very successful in their own time, I tend to think they were underrated, much in the same way ABBA were. And yet both were absolutely brilliant.

Song is low key fire tbh.
One of the cheesiest videos ever! I love their skiing poses.
I love you steps so much
You can hardly tell they used a green screen to make this video
This made me laugh for the entire of this song 🤣🤣😭
Omg 😂

Weird to hear this being called the old days, but it really is.
Merry Christmas to everybody. This song has Christmas all over it. 25/12/23 ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Steps were the best band of the 90's. Then replaced (in my book) by JLS who sadly split up in 2013. Glad to be a 90's baby
+Jodie Mcloughlin Me too. Steps forever

Good news is Steps is back, expect full of pure pop musics when the album come..
Hope we get a HD/4K remaster of this. Hopefully near Christmas 🎄or a video of them singing this on one of their tours, fingers crossed 🤞

Great under rated Christmas song that never gets a mention or played on the radio or music channels during Christmas songs.
Happy Times x
55 seconds in..I thought Lee and H were going to kiss. I'm oddly disappointed they didn't. Still an awesome song
I love this song. Been listening to it since 1998

They're clowning around having a good time doing this one. Kind of reminds me of the slapstick stuff the Monkeys did.
This song always takes me me back to Christmas 1998!
I love Claire Richard my favourite person ever

It's a pity the queen one didn't keep H. But yay for Steps! Off to see them in April wahey!! :D
