    I love this idea. Inexpensive and effective and adjustable. I’m an artist and will use this to solve my storage problem for rolls of rice paper. Thanks so much!

    I use a clear garment bag that zippers open on the side. Then I hang it in my closet. I don’t have to Take it down to access a wrapping paper roll or a bag since it opens on the side! And it takes up minimal space in the closet! Much better than taking up the back of a closet door with the shoe organizer. I need that space for shoes.

    I have a nice fabric shoe bag that I didn’t want to cut. I took elastic and pinned on the bag and ran it across the front with a pin in the middle to keep the elastic in place. That held my gift wrap. I put tags, ribbon and tissue paper in the upper pockets. Then clipped tags as labels with the contents on the pockets. It worked like a charm and now if I want to repurpose later I can reuse with no damage. Thanks for the inspiration as I have not utilized it prior to your video.

    AGAIN, more than a year late to this particular party, but I have used that exact same shoe organizer to hold ALL the water bottles and thermoses in our pantry door. SO many uses for these organizers! Also, I roll the scraps and put them inside the tube. :-D

    Yes. I remembered watching this tutorial......just purchased lots of rolls of paper at micheals for 47 cents a roll.....😉....now....how to store them......walked into Ross......it was calling my name......shoe storage just like this with a cute pattern......$5.99.......yeeeeeeeees.
    Now I’m watching this again so I cut the pockets correct......🤣😂😅
    Loved it when I first saw it........now I will have all my paper corralled......neatly and stored on my door.

    This looks great! Altho, if have to downsize my wrapping paper to use it. I really need to anyway. I have a large box with gift bags standing up by sizes. With bows and ribbon at one end of the box. And a tall box that holds my wrapping paper rolls. I love the toilet paper roll idea to keep the rolled wrapping paper from unraveling! I know, I'm in need of help. 🙄 Thank you for being here! 😊❤️

    Hey I have a recommendation for your ribbons and bows.... You could always put them where your tape and scissors are... And put your tape and scissors into a clear plastic pencil pouch and hand it from one of the hooks that goes over the door and you could also store a hole punch or rubber bands in a clear vinyl fronted pencil pouch

    Love the idea with the toilet roll or paper towel roll centres - I have a ton of these, and a ton of rolls of paper. I'm a wheelchair user, so the main idea with the over the door shoe holder is not so practical for me, but a way of keeping individual rolls rolled that does not involve rubber bands is awesome!

    • @TheCraftyOrganizer
      @TheCraftyOrganizer  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you can have someone help you, you can put in some cup holders on the door to hand the door shoe holder lower! I did this for a client and they loved it!

      @amysteele2488 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheCraftyOrganizer thank you! That is a great suggestion. It also struck me sometime after I posted my original comment, that if I use the lowest pockets I can reach as the base for the rolls, I can feed them in and out via the lowest slits, in the pockets directly above the base row. This would be more awkward than feeding them in from the top down, but still doable I believe. Meanwhile all my paper rolls have indeed been tamed by toilet roll tubes 😀

    In the past, I used one to organize all my combs, hairbrushes, curling irons, etc. But when I cut my nearly waist-long hair off, I stupidly got rid of almost every one of those, so the shoe pocket storage was redundant and I got rid of it, too. I said "stupidly" because now, ten or so years later, I've decided to grow my hair out again (just shoulder length), and I can't find my favorite rollers ANYWHERE! Guess I over purged on that one! Anyway, the point I meant to make is that the shoe storage pockets are good for lots of things. Thanks for sharing what you did with yours!

    I have never seen any of your videos until tonight and this shoe bag/holiday wrapping storage unit is very awesome. You look super with your hair down and I love your voice you remind me of a very cool woman at my church. From time to time she is on HGTV with her own staging company for selling homes. Anyway, I am getting ready to move out of my condo where I have great closet space to a smaller dwelling with not a lot of closet space at all so I may have to use your idea on the back of my bedroom door. I like the gray and love the pockets. For my birthday last year my girlfriend bought me from Costco a metal rack that is 3 tier with 8 nesting fabric boxes of various sizes but, on the sides of the metal tier are built in pockets that are clear for other items and I do lots of sewing and various crafts so there are 3 different types of crafts being stored in the boxes and once I get to my new dwelling I want to put all my ribbons into the side clear pockets. The organizer is also gray. I love your storage area its very nice and neat and I love anything that is blue. Thanks for a super ID. My mom has a shoe rack on the back of her bathroom door with about 15 slots for shoes and the pockets are clear but, she keeps her perfume in the pockets and hair brushes, combs, etc because she doesn't have a medicine cabinet in her bathroom. Thanks again, Rebekah in Alexandria, VA

    Clever. With my leftover paper that is too small to wind around the tube (in the interest of not having mostly empty tubes cluttering up), I generally fold the paper, and put it into file folders, sorted by holiday, birthday, etc. Since some wrapping paper is sold flat-folded anyway, I don't see the creases as a big negative.

    One of the best ideas for storing wrapping paper is a plastic suit bag ( you know , the ones you store your husband suit in to keep the dust off). you just hang it in the closet. It works GREAT! FYI

    Look nice. How I wrap up individual tubes of paper is to cut a small scrap of paper , roll it around the tube, and tape it. It keeps it rolled very tight and it doesn't damage the paper like plastics and it looks better than the TP tube.

    I take the extra and make my own bow to match the paper.
    Fold paper in half so your strip is at least 6" long. Cut 1/2" strips almost to the middle fold. Open it up and 'curl' the paper as you would curling ribbon by pulling the blade of your scissors along the inside of the paper strip. Accordian pleat along the fold to bunch it up. Secure the center. Voila! A matching bow.

    I roll scrap paper tight and put inside another roll. Also, years ago, when I quit wearing pantyhose, I took them all and cut into bands and use the bands for all wrapping paper and anything else that needs a rubber band. Only the colored ones flaked out but the natural color have not rotted and still maintain their stretchiness. I just filled a gallon ziplock bag and haven’t used them all yet. Thank you for videos

    At some point, I decided that I would only give small to midsize gifts, so I used a serrated steak knife to cut the taller rolls in two. Either of equal size or one small, the other larger. These are kept in a shallow dresser drawer with numerous packages of bright tissue paper. If I plan on a larger gift size, I buy wrapping paper specifically for that. I only use straw type ribbon, plus white and silver and gold curling ribbon, most of the year, and have several zip bags of mostly gold and silver adhesive bows.

    Really Love this idea! But will not work in my house. But love the over the door ideas! Right now I have towels on bathroom. And Pantry rack for diapers and pull ups over basement door at the bottom of the stairs that lead up to kids room! Right now, which I have so much more than you lol, but mostly all Christmas paper is in my open closet in the back behind my hanging clothes, no door to that closet. But it one of my online purchases in came in a skinny long box(meaning its size of 2 rolls but half the length of my closet) and another smaller version of that to hold all the on sale Christmas wrapping paper I have. (It is also tall enough that they don't lean! I hate when they do that too) We also like using different designs for kids when they are from different people, mostly from mommy & daddy, santa, reindeer etc. So it seems more real that they wrapped it themselves!

      Kaila - what about using tension rods to create spaces for the paper?? This would allow you to categorize and prevent them from falling over! If you are interested, you can email me a picture of your closet and I can make some suggestions. CallClutterFairy@gmail.com

    I put my scraps inside the roll. However, I never thought of the toilet/paper towel core to use to hold everything. Using those, I would be able "clip" the shorter pieces together instead of having them flop around on the outside of the roll.

    FOR WRAPPING PAPER i LOOSEN UP THE PAPER, THEN TIGHTEN IT UP again and store it inside the roll, it saves the edges from getting torn and wrinkled, and I keep scraps of substantial size only inside the roll, too

    This as very timely! My daughter was helping downsize Christmas gift very proud of myself. We had a problem with all Christmas wrapping supplies, flat wrapping and tissue paper, bags, boxed, ribbons bows, gift rolls,
    tag and etc. I use to sort by Christmas and other holidays in separate totes
    This year we did all holidays together Together for each category in clear totes. Not the best plan but all we could come up. Like this method but I have too much!

    I did this with a shoe organizer from Five Below - it works great - I just hung a command hook on the wall to hang it up. What I DO wish is that it had those see-through pockets so I can see what I put in the extra pockets (the ones at Five Below are solid material). It's almost worth tossing the one I have and getting the Target version just for this.

    Love this and I took my Big Bite or you can use a grommet punch but I made holes and then put brads and add stretchy headbands to keep smaller shorter rolls held back from flopping out. Thought this might help someone. Also what works great is the garment travel suit bags that use to fold over when traveling....hang in a closet and they stand up close zipper and viola. Thank you for sharing new to your channel and I am binge watching lol. Blessings from Arizona 🌴🌞🌵🙏🌺

    Brilliant Job. I loved the idea with the toilet roll tubes, I also hate elastic bands. You have so many good ideas. Thanks and keep the videos coming.

      Also do not use rubber bands as they dry and break. Do use cheap hair elastic and elastic cord (type used around gift boxes, candy boxes, etc) that can be purchased in sewing craft section JoAnnes, Michaels.

    Great idea...a place for all sorts of items. I do put partial rolls in a larger roll of paper. I've seen the cardboard tubes used but haven't tried it. I've seen some terrific art projects using them so I've been saving for that. Thanks for all your great ideas and hints..

    I really like the heavier material for this project and it looks so nice. I use a red&green holiday wrap canister, so that would be covered.
    Suggestion: When you put your scissors in the top compartment, I can visualize the scissors eventually stabbing a hole through whatever the material the organizer is made of. I'd spread some vaseline over the scissors tips, close the scissors, and coat greased tip with hot glue, front, back, sides, like a sheath to protect the pocket you're putting the scissors in.

    I would second your idea of the old toilet paper roll for holding gift wrap shut. I really grew to hate rubber bands for almost anything. Temp jobs sure. But NEVER storage. Always consider that rubber bands don’t age well. They dry out and break or they melt/fade their colors onto your stored product. On paper, ribbon or lace they tend to put hard wrinkles or creases into the product. That usually makes a section unusable or the whole thing is ruined. If you don’t have a cardboard tube handy, just wrap a length of paper around a few times and tape that paper to itself. That way you keep it neat, but don’t waste product.
