If "The Sinner" turns up in Fontaine or its lore I'll be so psyched. There’s so much going on, so many threads to connect...I completely forgot about Yelan mentioning pneuma in her incantation to activate the compass. Now I feel like going back and watching those cutscenes again to see what else I missed.
1) the Sinner's GOTTA reappear at some point, and 2) old content has SO many hidden gems. I am, no joke, in a loop of having to go back and revisit every past quest and event. forever. my own samara of lore. my eternal return. HELP
The khaverena of good and evil quest and the Fontaine glimpses that we’ve has had me thinking about opposing forces. Rene talks a lot about opposing forces right? One purifying and one corrupting. I think it’s interesting to make the parallel to the Traveler, who has innate purifying qualities, and the abyss twin, who through alignment with the abyss is connected with corruption. Separate but related to that are theories about how the twins are perhaps the progenitor god of genshin Phanes split into two people (Phanes was androgynous and had wings and has seemingly disappeared). The twins always remind us that they “will be reunited.” Im wondering if their reunification is more than just physical proximity. Either way, when two opposing forces come together, it creates an annihilation reaction like you said. You could power something really powerful with that.
yeah they kind of just went “oh you purified dvalin’s tear” and never brought that up again..? nor was it explained. it seems vastly important under new context of the current story beats.
The sinner is probably gonna at least be explained in dain’s Fontaine quest if not appear again. I could imagine that its general thing is granting just a little bit of wishes or promising that so that it can lure people and things into the abyss for its own purposes

If celestial/abyssal (or pneuma/ousia) do annihilate each other, if celestial grants wishes and abyssal inspires fears, then it would only make sense if they are somewhat of the same origin... at least for me it would make sense lol
It seems that Fontaine arc would explore more about energy : the annihilation reaction (opposing reaction abyssal and its purification) and the energy from oratrice (energy from people's belief). Meanwhile Honkai latest arc also explore about energy/other mechanism granted from people wish that at the end bring destruction to the people. In HSR they also explore similar theme for xianzhou where the people long for immortality that later on bring destruction to them in form of mara struck. I am wonder what is the Hoyoverse writting team cooking with this wish and destruction theme
I do hope they further explore the concept of people’s beliefs literally powering a machine. Then maybe the traveler defeating Ei with “the power of people’s ambition” will finally make actual sense in-universe and stop being a pure plot device.
The Pneuma-Ousia Energy is already interesting in itself, but the fact that this changed the Vision Casings in Fontaine is even more impressive! And that it activates the respective Energy when an Element is used is also impressive. This however also strikes up the very important questions of How? And are there significant consequences for it? Ei tells us that visions need ambition and something else (which means that a person with ambition is not enough to receive a Vision). This “something else” could be the Element Decider, so two people can have the same ambition, but different Elements. (Or same/same, different/same, different/different). So if Pneuma Aligned characters are only certain elements, and Ousia Aligned Characters are the other elements, then the Pneuma-Ousia Energy influences the “something else”. If there is no Elemental correlation, then the Pneuma-Ousia Energy influences the Ambition. Idk too much about consequences, but we do know that with the Vision representing one’s Ambition, anything that influences the Vision, will influence the Ambition. (Ei taking away Visions is taking away Ambition. Pneuma-Ousia influencing the Vision, will be influencing the Ambition.) And considering how there is an Annihilation Reaction when the two Energies interact with each other … what would happen if a Pneuma Aligned Character attacks an Ousia Aligned Character? I will be leaving you to your own imagination to figure out the answer there.
Theory: Jakob's transformation into an abyssling worked because Jakob was Ousia-oriented. Like + like = abyssling. When Rene and Jakob tried this procedure on Carter, it failed because Carter was Pnuema. Like + unlike = neutralization. Carter was "neutralized" into goo the same way the celestial nail neutralized forbidden knowledge in the Chasm.
I think Rene and Jacob might end up being a melusine( pardon my spelling), and i believe that the new system of pneuma-ousia that Alain invented is an improved version of the technology of the ruin guards, since both types of energy have a will of their own. So it's really ingenious to use the energy generated by this reaction, but it may or may not be very volatile. Can't wait Fontaine hype. Great video, keep it up.

I'm also inclined to believe that Rene and Jakob aren't human, buuut it seems weird because in the investigation notes, they seem completely outwardly human, but Rene acknowledges that they clearly aren't (and furthermore can't((?)) explain their origin). Although what iiffffff they're more like Sigewinne from the Final Feast trailer who looks like a human-melusine combo... sheesh I can't even speculate on that. I'm also so hype though - less than a week to goooo!
That literally just sounds like matter + antimatter reaction, both meet *annihilate* eachother and a lot of energy gets released, except, with extra anime bullshit added on top... annihilation seems to basically be the name of the reaction too.

I'm also planning on only getting like 2 characters from the whole Fontaine cast, Lyney not being one of them, so will look for ways to get by xD

I can't wait for Fontaine, especially since we'll get a free character to play around with so we can become more familiar with the annihilation reaction. One thing that I'm curious about is how the Traveler will react upon entering the nation, in the SP they seemed to be getting another headache. Are they just sensitive to abyssal energy or is the Sinner trying to get in their head? This is more of a crack theory but I've been wondering if the Sinner sometimes tries to brainwash the Traveler whenever they're emotionally vulnerable, that way they can have both twins rather then just one.
I've also wondered about that scene with the Traveller getting a headache and it would be SO JUICY! Like Traveller can resist a ton of stuff, right? and Dain basically said the Sinner isn't restricted by time or space? That would be a suuuper interesting weak point

It’s in fact a creative choice made by the studio handling English translations, and does not appear in the original Chinese. It’s super important to cross-reference the original words used when trying to string together a theory like this. Here’s the actual translation of the line wherein she mentions ‘spirit curbed, pneuma surge’: “Apprehend gods and spirits, allow the continued flow of the world's essence.” The nature of opposing forces is a common theme in Genshin, and while they obviously were using something like this in the Chasm- it is not related to Fontaine at all.
Now that i see it, why would there even be a reason for a magician to be like the ones we know in our world? In a world (teyvat) where magic actually exist... i don't see the point of lyney and lynette being magicians. Is it exclusively for entertainment? Or does the fact that they are magicians have to do with a possible " magic and alchemy doesn't exist in Fontaine" thing?
