    Aba was never the capital of Abia state, It grew due to it's commercial nature just like Onitsha in Anambra. A capital city is not necessarily supposed to be the most developed or nice looking. It's just supposed to be an administrative city.

    Mennn!!! this video is nostalgic, I was born in Aba at General Hospital ,went to Aba Owerri Road primary Sch. and lived there for 25 years b4 I left for New Jersey ( I have been back a few times though). I could pretty much tell the roads they passed, Eziukwu road has been fixed and some other roads. But some buildings i saw in the video have been there since i was born and surprisingly are still there. I love Aba though.

    Aba is still suffering from the destruction by Nigerian government offensives during Biafra Nigerian total war ., it is yet to recover from the wanton devastation. I grow up there and i saw everything working so well before the war including cleaner city, public pumps for those that did not have water pumps inside their compound. Clean motorable roads/ gutters and regular power supply among others. The Aba population have multiplied and there is not enough infrastructure to support these over population and urbanisation .The state government is not very creative in raising revenue and transparency in it is expenditure. We are yet to experience the spirit of No Victor And No Vanquish.

    Aba has never been a state capital, right from when Abia was carved out of the old Imo State, Umuahia was made the capital. Aba has always been a major city in Nigeria, when you mention lagaos, kano , in terms of commerce, Aba comes next. Aba used to be the Lagos of Igboland but absence of developmental leadership saw Aba suffer neglect in the areas of infrastructure. The federal government's refusal to help development in igboland just as they are doing in Lagos and kqno, meant Aba was left on her own.

    • @favourkalu8586
      @favourkalu8586 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You're actually blaming the Federal Government who for the neglect in Aba. What should the Feds have done in Aba that they haven't done? Is urban planning and development in the states the responsibility of the Federal Government? The same FG electrified the entire Ariaria int'l market. Lagos State was denied 3 years + of statutory allocation by the Federal Government and nobody, not even the Yorubas whined about it or used it as an excuse to encourage underdevelopment in the state.
      We Igbos will do well to stop trying to shift blame to people other than ourselves. Generally we Igbos have proven to be not as skilled in politics as they are in economic and commercial activities. We have a knack to selecting the worst among us as our leaders. The much criticised Muhammadu Buhari has executed much more visible projects than any Governor in the Southeast, Umahi inclusive. Sentiments aside, it's pure facts.

    It's a lie... right from when Abia state was created Umuahia is the capital of Abia State. But I think Aba was already a commercial city in the Eastern region before the creation of Abia state.

    he chose the area he wanted, let him take us to Ariaria "international" market, ngwa road market, always flooded because of trash that are never cleared.
    When people go to the market, and it rains they get stocked in their stores because they cannot go home For flood.

    Good job guys. This has dispel other stories I always hear of how bad Aba has turned to. From those news I heard a lot like there no good roads in Aba town and those kinds of things. But I can see good roads in this video inside Aba town contrary to the news circulating in the internet by some TH-cam guys. On the other hand ,I will advise you to do good research about were u want to share to the public. Tell viewers the names of the streets you are passing through and other features in the area than just driving around without much explanation. Thanks

      @Igbo Amaka I thought this abusive set of Igbo people that exist to dent our image only exist on Facebook.
      Anyways you are entitled to your opinion! T A Orji for 8 years did not embark on any road construction in the entire Aba, everybody in the country obviously believed Aba was the refuse capital of our nation, now you sit and watch this video and the testimonies that tell how there has been a face lift in the city and you still rant this.
      Anyways mention one road that was constructed 8 years preceding Ikpeazu and I'll oblige to your argument.

    Aba city seems to have a good road network. You showed a new view of Aba instead of the propaganda from some Igbos and strangers who do not like anything good from Igboland.
    Is this busy area of Aba not better than lagos mainland and other areas of Lagos apart from some estates?

      I agree my brother but the main problem with Aba roads is flooding, when it rains everything good floats away (I hope that has been corrected). Markets like the great Ariara market have lost their shine because of this.
      This video was done during the dry season but so far I'm impressed with what I'm seeing.
