    What a nightmare! But these problems hit all of us. We laid a beautiful paver driveway and the inspector wanted us to move it. I told him I would yank out the papers and leave it as dirt. He was stupefied and then backed off his demand. It was an oceanfront property. But he got me on the apron. Had to spend $3000 to have and 18 inch deep reinforced concrete apron in the utilities right of way. So stupid. As soon as utilities want to make a change they will have to tear it up. It never happened in the 17 years I lived there, but what stupid requirements. 15 inches into the concrete? Total hogwash!

      That sounds like a bigger nightmare that our fix. I'm just glad we only had to drill one new hole instead of 4.

      It's weird how different areas have such different code requirements.

    Here's an obvious question: Are they the hold-down strips meant to hold the house down to the foundation in the event of high wind?

    • @OneFootOfftheGrid
      @OneFootOfftheGrid  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      From what I'm told they are more to prevent lateral/sheer forces than it is to prevent uplift, but I'm sure it is helping with that as well.

      And for good reason. I'm pretty happy we have our inspectors to make sure we are doing things right.

    Fråga er inspektör om golv isoleringen i tross botten . Här i Skandinavien är det standard . Men er värme särskilt på vintern blir mycket bättre

    I would never built in a state/county where you have to get an inspection for a hole before you anchor. Talk about over-regulation.

    • @OneFootOfftheGrid
      @OneFootOfftheGrid  ปีที่แล้ว

      Our inspectors are actually pretty easy to work with. Not sure why they had to witness the and inspect the hole before epoxy, but we just went with it.
