As a Ugandan, I believe this is the most beautiful anthem in the world. If we are to have a United States of Africa, I choose the SA anthem for the African anthem. We can borrow from it and that of Tanzania( my neighbor )
This piece is so special to me, I feel it so deep inside. It carries doubt, pain, fears, faith and hope at the same time. And we need it so hard in these days. Thank you André van der Merwe for this arrangement 🙏🙏 Thank you Stella Choir for being my second family, I feel so blessed ❤
I have been waiting to sing this amazing piece for so long, I can’t believe now I get to listen to our version of Nkosi Sikelela🥹🥹❤️❤️ So proud to be part of Stella choir!!
Please can anyone give me the lyrics? They're like angels 😇 singing ❤ so majestic Watching from a tiny country in the south pacific. Love from Solomon Islands 🇸🇧
This sounds like a colonial rendition intended to dilute the lived experiences of the author and his people under the oppression. Though, I appreciate their endeavor, I castigate their white spread appropriation of our pain, suffering and culture
As a member of Stella Choir, I want to clarify that our rendition of the South African national anthem was never intended to "dilute" the lived experiences that the song embodies. We are based in Tangier, Morocco, and we identify as Africans just like any other African nation. The lyrics, which emphasize mourning for Africa's past and a prayer for redemption, resonate deeply with us as we also seek blessings for our continent. It's important to note that this is not a colonial rendition, as Morocco has never colonized South Africa. Additionally, we are not white; we are North African. The notion that only black Africans are truly African is divisive and contradicts the spirit of "Nkosi Sikelela iAfrika," which calls for unity and blessings across all of Africa. Bests,
30 years is a very long time for you to be sour and bitter. Injustices occurred, but along the boundaries of peace, ubuntu, and diversity as we were taught by Mandela keeps us going forward and forgiving the past. Heal! The Truth and Reconciliation Commission dealt with all these atrocities you are enlisting here. It is time now to celebrate our history instead of mourning it. You are embarrassing us as a peaceful and diversified nation. Heal!
