    You do know that if you lost that hex screw you could replace it with a Phillips (×) screw, all you have to do is match the threads. The head doesn't mean there are some fancy threads on the screw. Just FYI.😊

    Thank you - that video was really helpful. I have finally got too impatient with the slow speeds that my NAS gives me for files I'm accessing regularly (in my Lightroom file store, for example) and have been trying to get my head around all the competing standards, etc, for ports and SSD standards. You've answered all my questions, and I see an Acacis enclosure and a big SSD in my future. The NAS (a 2-bay Synology DS220j) will simply become my Time Machine backup target. It's perfect for those background tasks that you don't interact with.

    Thanks for sharing, I'm glad that I found your video review that covers a variety of SSDs and enclosures. There are a lot of reviews out there that keep suggesting viewers buy expensive SSDs, which I think is not for everyone. I've been looking for a review like this that can cover the least expensive and most recommended ones. With this video, I'm leaning towards buying the combination of TBU405 and WD SN570 2Tb instead of the TBU405 and Samsung 980Pro.

    thanks for the information. I'm looking for the best combination for the best enclosure and nvme. I think I'll choose the Lexar 2TB + ACASIS TBU405, but that uses an additional fan

      sir, do you think the speed of nvme + enclosure, applies the same if I connect it with an ipad pro M1 (2021) or does it only apply to laptops and desktop PCs?

    On that SD card adapter. They have different sizes. So you could get the dimensions of the proper one for your Macbook and see if they have another model that is just slightly longer so it would be easier for you to remove. Me, I don't remove my SD card that much, so it isn't an issue for me.

      I haven’t tested the battery drain of the laptops cuz I use Apple M chips and they don’t drain that much. However I’ve looked into battery drain in my mobile storage video:

    Did anyone notice that the Yottamaster HP8-C3 came with the USB4 cable, and the Acasis TBU4 came with the T3 cable? Did the model numbers matter at all? I'd go with the Thunderbolt 4 connectors...

    The older version using Phoenix Controller & the new version is using Elpis Controller. I guess yours is the new version, can you check that? Thanks

    Using a micro SD with an SD-Adapter adds a potential source of failure, i would always go for a full size SD card. In my experience micro SDs even high quality one are less robust than high quality full size SDs.
    Using an external storage as a working device max transmission speeds less important than writing/reading lots of small blocks, in that way speed,type and size of the cache is mor important. I would avoid NVMEs without real DRAM Cache.

    Hi, based on your test I bought Acasis TBU405 and the 970 Evo Plus (2TB) my read speed even exceeds your values (2800 MB/s), but the write speed is just half of your values (1200 MBs) - Hardware: MacBook Pro M1 14", Speed by BM Speed Test. What went wrong?

    • @GeeksTable
      @GeeksTable  ปีที่แล้ว

      My first guess: could be the cable. If there is another cable to try - give it a go. Another guess: could be something wrong with the case. If you have another SSD to test with, I’d put it in the Acasis and run the speedtest. If the speed is bad again, then it might be the box. If both tests show good results, then it’s the Samsung SSD to blame.

    None of these drives are true USB4/Thunderbolt 4 and do not have the speed advertised. These drives' internal board/chipset is USB3 with a USB4 port adapter. You will only get true USB4 or Thunderbolt 4 speeds once the chipsets are redesigned in later models.
