  • This was one of the hardest tournaments I've ever bowled in! We bowled at Eastgate Lanes in Newton, KS, which is a 12 lane center. All 12 lanes had different oil patterns on them!

    This was a whole lot of fun to bowl! I started on 11 & 12 and 12 was definitely a challenge. Eastgate did a great job of setting it up! Pics of the patterns at every lane. Really helped me visualize what to do

    You really had some bad breaks as well. I've been binging on your videos and I'm very impressed with your bowling talent and versatility on the lanes. I've been away from bowling for many years, but your videos are awesome and I really enjoy them. Being on the tour myself, ahem, many years ago, I can see the natural talent you possess. Much success to you in the future.

    I think it was probably as much mental, as well as physical, just having to do some thing different every other shot. Cool format.

    I bowled one of these many years ago, 24 lanes, 24 different patterns. only 1 ball per bowler. Very different patterns, (best as I remember) lane 1, no oil, lane 2, dry first 20 feet, heavy oil from 20-40.Lane 3, dry first 20 feet, next 15 feet flooded (you get the idea) lower average bowlers who threw it straighter cleaned up the cash!

    • @Thehousebowlingextras
      @Thehousebowlingextras  ปีที่แล้ว

      Ehh idk if they were low average but it seemed like speed and straighter players bowled much better!

    The question I've always wanted to ask a pro and hopefully i get you to answer this is why when you have tournaments like this with tough oil patterns don't you just fire your spare ball right up the middle. Seems to me that would be the best chance for high scores??

    I have a serious question(s) / insight(s) for you Packy, something(s) I hope you'll consider worthy of a serious reply, possibly in a future vid, because since I see probable multiple teaching/learning opportunities for you to impart to other's in your reply it would be silly typing back to me where no one else will see it to garner any take-away (the ol' if pic worth 1K words what's a vlog worth thing) when there's at least a partial vlog's worth of reply here.. Besides, typing sux, not to mention wayyy too time consuming. Anyhowww, onward beneath >>>
    >
    Ok. Question (in multi-part harmony from the observation deck): Why did you play all the pairs from the left ? (except 3&4, which you kind of talked about at the end, but that was hindsight talking and even there you knew you should have been deeper.)
    Oh, before I go on, I don't believe I've ever mentioned to you I used to carry a PBA card. Resident Pro i in the early '80s. Attended the 1st Player's School (do they still have that?) Card No 681 if you want dig into Akron archives. Point being: Everything I mention / talk to you or Madison about is of a positive or what at least I consider to be of a helpful nature. Never any negative or down-talk from this quarter, 10/4. Onward.
    I think what I'm nut-shell trying to question / say here is: I don't understand why you're not playing almost all these patterns (at least in this summer sweeper scenario) from fairly deep inside using ball and speed control?? I have to say I've never seen you throw so hard and with less control as I have during these sweepers, with the possible exception of last squad, last games on burnt-to-the-ground lanes.
    It just seems to me you should be able to go across the center and bring it back on all these patterns with speed & ball control, especially under these sweeper conditions -- meaning virtually no one else trying to use the same lane space.
    Granted, I'm olde skool -- meaning I was used to wood and all both oil patterns they used to put out for us until the day they deceided to take away the Roth / Holman crankers, and synthetic lanes were the NKOTB. I also don't really understand the internals in modern bowling balls.
    However, what I *do* know is how you handled lanes this past touring session vs how you're handling the lanes during these sweepers, so please believe me when I say I feel like I'm watching two different Packy's. I really think you should watch some of your tour footage parallel to these sweeper footage. I'm fairly certain you'll find a vlog's worth of material to bring to class. Besides that, I don't like seeing you not in control. And right now you're not in control when bowling these sweepers. I'm confident you can crack the code.
    On a very positive note, based on footage available for viewing, I've seen strong growth with Madison. When she starts blasting out a few more of those 10 pins she'll be durn near unstoppable.
    Best..

    • @Thehousebowlingextras
      @Thehousebowlingextras  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I use the off season to practice some of the weaknesses that i noticed during the season so a lot of times you'll see me throw different balls and do different things for learning and growth not necessarily for the right now win but maybe for a much bigger win down the road. Secondly when we bowl on tour they never hook near the amount that they do in the off season so its hard to play the lanes the same as i do then. The best option is always to adapt to whats in front of you and adjust to that not to what I do well!
      Those were some great questions I appreciate you asking all of the hard hitting questions. Practice doesn't make perfect but practice makes progress so thats what Im always working on! 😀

    Well uhm I think your timing is off little bit you got to get the perfect timing to ought to hook little bit better
    But when you throw the ball on the heavy oil you have to be little bit careful because the what you can do is move few boards to the right and so the angle can be adjusted to the pocket unfortunately I saw you missed a spare few times that you not thinking were the target position it’s not accurate and you realize it’s going to hook to much and again to much loaf to get the natural hook that you looking for on longer pattern you need to take your time to control the amount of spin on your ball now your score could be better than usual you been doing uhm you know how tournament patterns now uhh on this particular pattern you really have got to be careful and try not to go near by the channel then you will lose your count and then you have to make a decision now definitely never use your spare Ball to get a strike you usually spouse to use strike ball and better Accuracy that’s your goal is to look for more accuracy and slow your speed down and make sure you pay a closer attention to how much you throw it will hook sharp if you not careful so uhm beware of that okay but you doing great job hanging in there and keep trying maybe you’ll never know you will learn new tricks to make your game improve your scores I grantee I am proud of you keep up the good work you made just win the tournament and I wish you success in your career of Bowling
