Hello Chuck when I took my sump of my 3.8 for the first time most of the split pins from the big end bearing caps had broken up and in the bottom of the sump I replaced them with the new type but wasn’t you curious to check the condition of bearings
Hello Chuck, I know you said the engine is original and has never been taken apart. Since the car sat so long do you think the rear rope seal will be ok or dried out. I hope it’s ok because the crankshaft must be removed to do a proper split seal replacement. I did my 3.8 and it was a lot of fun. Nice work and good luck.
Just so much fun to watch you work through these jobs. Keep up the reanimation, we are ready to hear it fire up and see it go down the road.

I'm surprised you didn't clean the outside of the engine first, before removing the sump.

Hi Chuck. Can you replace the rear seal with the sump removed or do you have to drop the crankshaft ? Cheers!
