The irony. Back in the 90s, people thought of "old Vegas" as the 1950s and 60s, the Rat Pack days. 80s Vegas was seen as shit, then the Mirage opened in 1989 and after that Vegas started modernizing and coming back from the dead, to the place it is now with multiple resort hotels.
