I think there was a time when he was ready to let jinmi go. It was when he discover his mom and beg the heaven empress to spare her. But then she did not. That was the time when love was lost and vengeance and jealousy set in. I do pity them all. Su he too. ☹️

So many people Kindda think that Jin Mi is hypocrites here, but remember that her mother gave her the pill to stop her heart from knowing that’s true love is, she only know feeling of mom dad, friendship and respect. She doesn’t know love is, remember the white lotus and bag her to let her go? That’s herself. When she and Runyu is her fiancé but she love Xufung without knowing herself, when she had sex with Xufung, she still have that pill blocking her heart, it’s finally broke when she kill Xufung on her own wedding with Runyi, cuz her heart burst to broke. Xufeng knew that Runyu got forbidden power just to achieve his mean and he doesnt even spear the innocent anymore like the flora realm.. If Xufeng give up, Runyu will not stop so Xufeng had to keep fight to protect demon realm and and the world from Runyu that already turned irrational and evil.. this two brother come to the point that they had too fight to death... Jinmi cant do anything about it, the conflict doesnt even start in their generation, but the heritage from their parent selfishness and villain people, that mixed with all the love dramas..
I think at some point Xufeng and Runyu's fight is inevitable from the beginning.. and the war in six realm will cost so many innocent because the conflict between these brothers.. but they both got the catalyst that is Jinmi... and finally Jinmi realized that too, like what the buddha said, mercy is when saving the world, and that mean she had too destroy the chain of hatred between Runyu and Xufeng that both of the brother seem to accumulated ALL their suffering from their heritage and their own loneliness to Jinmi, as the their justified reason.
So Jinmi got between their powerful attack and sacrifed herself like she want to destroy both brother's mask of their own justified reason to start war! Because in the end aside from the three of them, the others just innocent lackey that got dragged out to their story.
I feel touched because even with Jinmi sacrifed, the brothers can still continue the war till one of them win and pay their vengeance.. But when he see Jinmi got hurt ,
Xufeng doesnt care about anything else.. his revenge, his thrist for power, and his hate for her.. he got blinded by all of it but he never really want to hurt Jinmi and want keep her safe(like he not hurt the bunny Jinmi or when he mobilized an army to protect Jinmi's flora realm).. in the end Jinmi still the number one in his heart.

It's funny and romantic and the fighting is very good and it shows you how good Chinese have gone a long way. And if you are at it then you should check out love and destiny it is another good Chinese drama to.

I loved this drama so much that when i got to this part of the series and the final episodes i was SO annoyed that she died and had to wait for the last five minutes for them to finally be together that i spent three hours RAGING to my best friend about her death. This is one of the only dramas I've watched that has ever managed to make me rage like that and I love it.

Even after that also due to that stonething in heart she was not in a stage to you know feel and expresses her love. whatever she does after that for protecting his love for life saw for the reincarnation of the Phoenix is behind the scene of behind the curtain for the male lead. Ayukt so we can't blame him for leave for not trusting the woman who killed her. How many times did she tell Run Yu she only loved Xu Feng? it didn't make a difference. No matter what she said it wouldn't have changed anything if she told him before, after, or in between. Why do you really think he changed her dream so, she could have doubts about Phoenix's innocence. Even at the end, he still asked her if she was happy. The writing was on the wall when her father mentioned he was thinking of canceling the engagement, take a good look at Run Yu's face. It says it all.

It was an inevitable thing to happer, her sacrifice that is for the greater good... I mean you cant have the heaven and demon realm fighting all the time and loosing lots of people just to obtain her so I think her sacrifice was necessary to stop all the war that might happen in the future.
