SONIC 3 Fun Facts: Plans for a third Sonic the Hedgehog film were announced in February 2022 during a ViacomCBS investor event ahead of the release of Sonic the Hedgehog 2. Due to the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike, filming for the animated characters began in July 2023 in Surrey, England, while filming with the actual actors began that November in London, with production wrapping up in March 2024. The film is inspired by the video game Sonic Adventure 2 (2001). Sonic the Hedgehog 3 is scheduled to be released in the United States on December 20, 2024, by Paramount Pictures.
