    Wow what a great video. Incredibly beautiful shots. I myself was in September with my son for two dives in Abu Dabbab. The sea turtles were absolutely amazing.
    I'll definitely leave a subscription here and I'm looking forward to the upcoming videos. Greetings from Bavaria (southern Germany).

      Sorry to respond so slowly, I just got back from Raja Ampat, I'm preparing some new videos! :-)
      I'm glad you and your son had a great time at Abu Dabbab, it's a really beautiful place with lots of turtles. If you do any videos, be sure to add a link, I'd love to see it. :-)

    How about the water temperatures in middle of february in Marsa Alam and El Quseir?

    • @themako
      @themako  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In February we had very pleasant warm weather and the sea temperature was around 24 degrees Celsius. I still recommend wearing a wetsuit.

      @@themako since I read about recent shark attacks I am now worrying about my physical integrity during snorkeling in the Red Sea coastal waters.

    • @themako
      @themako  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BurkhardusX There are shark attacks in Egypt every year, so nothing surprising. I always try to read the articles to find out what exactly happened. Unfortunately, it's often an unknowing fault of the victim.
      People quite often don't respect that it is forbidden to feed the fish and don't realize that they attract predators, among other things. At the same time, I would never enter the Red Sea without a diving mask. I wouldn't jump off the jetty into the water on the outer reef side. And I wouldn't recommend swimming at dawn or dusk.
      Sharks are all around us in the sea, but we rarely notice them. We're not their natural prey and usually it's curiosity that brings them to us. When this happens, it is extremely important to stay calm in a vertical position, keep your eyes on the shark and don't splash.
      Unfortunately, sometimes we can pay the price for someone else's stupidity. Recently, a scared man swam past me and was chased by a school of fish led by a titan triggerfish because he had bread in his swimsuit and was feeding them. However, as he swam by, the triggerfish started attacking me. I first chased the fish away and then scolded the man very harshly.

    in which part of the buta the eagle rays were filmed?

    • @themako
      @themako  ปีที่แล้ว

      They circled the sandy center of the bay. Look at the map at the end of the video, it was roughly where the seagrass beds are marked.

    Your filming skills are awesome! The quality is top! Going to Marsa Alam in May this year, can't decide between the 3 corners Fayrouz or the 3 corners Equinox, what would you choose?

    • @themako
      @themako  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks a lot! ♥ Glad you like the video. About the hotels, it won't be easy because I haven't been to Equinox. Hilton Nubian is in Abu Dabbab bay, while Equinox has its own little bay about 2km away from Hilton. The staff at the local dive center told me that the bay at Equinox isn't worth much, but there should be a better chance of seeing a dugong there. They say there are more of them out there.
      However, I can wholeheartedly recommend Fayrouz. You can see in my two videos what you can encounter there. You'll find multiple environments - a shallow lagoon, high coral reefs and a seagrass beds in Marsa Mubarak. Plus, there's really very nice staff and good service.
      If you choose Fayrouz, you can't go wrong.
      No matter what you decide, be sure to let me know. :-)

      One more important piece of information! It is reportedly forbidden to travel to Egypt with a drone. They'll confiscate it at the airport. So be careful. :-)

      @@themako thanks for the tip. Not planning to bring the drone. Only diving and a lot of snorkeling is the plan! 😉

      @@themako Hi, your videos are incredible! I have watched a lot of red sea videos, but yours are probably the most breathtaking, please keep filming! And special respect for the music selection :)
      Maybe you could help me with advice, my girlfriend and I are planning our first trip to the red sea and our main priority is snorkeling. I did some research and decided on Marsa Alam instead of the standard Sharm El Sheikh, as many people said that nature is more unspoiled here. Now I choose between two hotels - Fayrouz (because of the house reef and Marsa Mubarak) and Hilton Nubian (obviously Abu Dabbab). I'm not quite sure which one to choose, and since by happy coincidence you've been to both (I watched all the videos :)), maybe you could share an opinion on where you liked the snorkeling the best? I'm also a little worried by the fact that in the reviews about Fayrouz on google meeps several people said that "the reef to the left of the pier and the reef at the relaxation beach" are dead, the reviews were written about half a year ago.
      Or maybe you know some other places in Egypt with snorkeling better than near these two hotels? :) Thanks in advance for any advice!

      @@danylomovchan3450 Thanks, glad you like the videos. :-)
      Going underwater is always incredibly relaxing for me, so I try to make the videos look exactly how I feel when I shoot them.
      Of the hotels mentioned, I would definitely recommend Fayrouz, where I had some really beautiful encounters with marine animals. The outer reef was beautiful the last time I was there. The problem is that on my last visit, the hotel in Marsa Mubarak Bay had not yet been completed and I can't say what effect that has on the marine life there. Overall I also liked the accommodation, architecture and service better.
      The Hilton Nubian also has a beautiful reef and great marine life, but it did not meet my expectations in accommodation and service. However, the food here was slightly better.
      Overall, I would say that whether you choose Fayrouz or Hilton Nubian, you can't go wrong. I would recommend visiting both. The reefs are very nice at both places, but I only met the dugong a few times at Fayrouz.
      I don't think I've been much help, but it's a really tough choice. :-)
