Seeing stampy, the man who is the reason I play video games, the man who played a huge part in my childhood, now reviewing my favourite game makes me really happy
32:55 The 5th Panthion does not count for compleation percentage only 1-4. 39:48 The Hive was not DLC only the Hive Knight boss was 55:25 Fun fact, the flukes were voice acted by the same person that voiced hornet. 1:05:00 Menderbug will only appear if you break the sign directly below the well in Dirtmouth, then its still a 2% chance he wiil appear, also the only way to kill him is with a spell because if you get too close he'll fly away. We don't kill him because its an accident, we kill him because we are bloodthirsty psychopaths. 1:14:35 This is not a fun fact. This was the first grub mimic I encountered as well as the first time I audibly screamed playing a video game.
To add to the small details, one thing I like is how the areas and enemies adapts to the progress you make in the story :) Minor spoilers here: Like when you claim the second dreamer the whole forgotten Crossroads gets infected, or how when you defeat the mantis lords their whole tribe bows to you instead of attack you on sight :D
@@Beowolf-jy5rc I looked it up and apparently both killing the dreamer and getting the Monarch wings changes it to Infected crossroads so depends on which you do first haha
I thought I was done with this game - the navigation frustrated me so I never finished but I loved the boss fights and the combat so much. May go back to it at some point now you've shown me how far the rabbit hole goes
This is one of my favourite episodes of the podcast! I decided to finish the game out around the same percentage as Joe. The pantheons were where I was starting to reach the limit of my skill. Nightmare King Grimm and the Path of Pain were enough of a challenge for me and some of the hardest things I’ve completed in a game. I think one of my favourite moments in this game (spoilers ahead!) was at the end of Quirrel’s quest you can find him in the blue lake and the game let’s you just sit with him in his final moments listening to the sounds of the lake, something he mentioned wanting to see when you first sit with him on the bench at the City of Tears. Such a cool little moment that stuck with me, like many others. Excited for the next episode!
Watching through this absolutely makes me want to continue playing it! I haven't played many Metroidvanias but they're games that seem right up my alley. One of the things I've loved about the sound design is how the music fades out slightly whenever you take damage to really add that extra impact. (The score is absolutely incredible, too!!) Thanks for sharing about this lovely game, and can't wait to hear about Super Metroid (the other Metroidvania I've played, haha!) next podcast!
im surprised just how much of Oli's experience playing through the game for the first time resonated with me, even though i do agree with Joe overall on where it should go on the list! for a little bit of context, i got a Switch earlier this year which is the first actual console ive ever owned, and Hollow Knight was the first game i got for it. totally agree with the Watcher Knights, i found them horribly frustrating and i think i probably spent like, maybe 10 hours total trying to beat them. i totally agree that the arena being wider than your screen was a BIG part of the fight's difficulty as the knights could basically just come outta nowhere. i refought them again in Godhome for the boss rush modes and even after beating the Radiance, i still struggled with them for a while before i truly got the hang of things. they do actually have a VERY subtle tell to differentiate a roll attack from the jump, if they're gonna do the jump, they do a little hop once they roll up. the jump is also meant to target where you are, so if you're right next to one as it's about to jump, it'll basically just jump in place rather than fly across the screen. my general strategy is to try and get both knights on screen, preferably right next to each other, and stand next to them. if they're about to swing their nail, either shade dash through or pogo, and if they're gonna jump, take a few steps (or dash) away. hope this is helpful for any future playthroughs, it definitely takes some practice to learn and i still think that the Watcher Knights are among the worst fights in the game, i really wish the tells for the attacks in that had clear audio cues or whatever since they can start those off-screen i also didnt find the dream nail until way later on! for some reason i had always just managed to barely avoid reaching any one of its entrances. in fact, i believe i stumbled into Resting Grounds after getting tired of Watcher Knight runs and wanting to do literally anything else hahah. by the time i got it, i still hadn't found Deepnest though and never even thought there was a whole other area in that corner of the map so that kinda helped me out there one last thing, i've 112% the game and Joe, the final pantheon with the 40-something bosses doesn't actually count towards the completion total! your missing percent would probably be Nightmare King Grimm, which is REALLY tough but super fun once you learn it. slight spoilers i guess, but there is a quest you can do instead where you can banish the troupe rather than do the NKG fight and i believe that gives you that 1% too! sorry for the essay hahahah, i just really love this game and am just really really happy that you guys covered it on the podcast!
Pantheon 5 is an absolute nightmare. I get to the second to last boss almost every time and die. Like this stuff gets me lightheaded. One of the most difficult things to do out of any game I've played.
A fantastic podcast episode for a fantastic game and almost the longest podcast. I enjoyed every minute. I am happy with the placement of the game on the list, but me personally i would have put it under the walking dead. Also Joe has more “buggy” eyes. Sorry Joe.
It’s felt like ages since I’ve watched one of these but in reality it’s only like been two weeks. Either way it’s too long. Schools finally out tho so now I have more free time to listen to by far my favorite podcast out there! 💯🔝I would love to see y’all cover Splinter Cell at some point
I love this game there’s so much to do and there’s a lot of secrets. I have a lot of hours and I still haven’t gotten full completion. I enjoyed learning how to fight all the bosses and how to navigate the world. I think all of the characters are pretty fun. Some of the hidden bosses and True Final Bosses are fun and hard to beat and some I haven’t beaten yet. Those Boss Rushes are great with their exclusive bosses
If you combine the "Smelly one" and the "smart bomb spore" charm, the damage area when you healed turns it all stinky for a bit and does much more damage than either by itself. It is useful when you get trapped in rooms with lots of enemies and for the Lost Kin boss when the little ghosts spawn in as you try to heal.
Don't bash the summon build! Struggling with a boss? Get the band back together and play the dodge game for a few runs. Even the grubs will help you with that!
@thebonuspoints yes please! Also a quick question: Do you prefer to be called Stampy or Joe on this channel? I know this is fairly separate from your Stampy channel but I don't know how you feel about commenters using your real name.

Wayward compass is pretty useful for those who easily get lost.
I gave up a couple times but I came back and really loved it, totally recommend you go back to it!

I literally cried at that moment with Quirrel 😢
Excited to see how Oli responded to Hollow Knight, surely this will be a great episode.

55:28 that was a great impression

Seeing stampy hold a hollow knight figurine fills me with such an indescribable amount of joy
I've got most achievements in this game and I am still obsessed.
As someone whos entire feed is full of silksong cope, listening to my childhood hero enjoy hollow knight is healing my soul
LETS GOOOOO, I haven’t even played it much but I can’t wait to watch till the end.
Super meat boy is a great way to describe the feel of the controls. Very precise.
Because of this episode I started replaying the game while listening to pod!

Used to watch Stampy's lovley world. Ive just found out about this podcast, super exited to check it out!
The final pantheon is not a percent btw.

We are doing an audience vote right now! Make sure you comment Splinter Cell for it to have a chance of winning.
This was the first game on the list that I have actually played before:)
I saw a friend play this and juding by his reactions I thought it was one of those rage platformers.
Thanks for the spoiler warning interjected! Huge respect for that
Good video guys 💪
The "guy" mining is called Myla and nothing bad happens to her at all :)
lol
no of course not she goes on to live a wonderful happy life and mines all the crystals in the world :DDD

Please review silksong when it comes out in 25993 years
i really love this game! im glad to see u guys talking about it:D
I forgot this was scheduled for today! Excited to watch it, but if it is low on the list... I will (insert silly threat here)!!!!!!!!!
I literally was playing Hollow Knight when I saw this was uploaded.
Just saw Joe's completion percentage. I also have 111% and have been trying to get 112% for so long. That's what I am doing right now.
The first 4 pantheons give you a % each. That might be what Joe didn't do.

Can you tell how happy I am to talk about this game?
Is there a list where we can see your rankings? Idk maybe there already is one and I just haven’t known where it is😅
End of the video, or download the latest podcast ep, it’s in the description
poor Joe, must've missed his last percentile from the second to last pantheon
Ashamed to say I never finished Hollow Knight.
Nice podcast
I have tried Hollow Knight, i just can't see the fascination with it. It's still a good game just not my type
Don't bash the summon build! Struggling with a boss? Get the band back together and play the dodge game for a few runs. Even the grubs will help you with that!
Summons are only good for looking cute when they sleep next to the bench. 🙃
It’s METROIDVANIA MONTH!
Or “underground 6 weeks” haha
Stamps why no hollow knight play through 😢
I had already played it years ago. I might do a playthrough for silksong though.
@thebonuspoints yes please! Also a quick question: Do you prefer to be called Stampy or Joe on this channel? I know this is fairly separate from your Stampy channel but I don't know how you feel about commenters using your real name.
@@thebonuspoints I was just rewatching this episode and saw this comment 😀 I really hope you do, that would be great!
It,s so so good 😀🤘🏼
I've never really been a fan of hollow knight
