OK thanks for responding. I appreciate it. I have a picnic cat and the displacement is 500 pounds. Maybe the motor would be adequate for it. I am intrigued by how quiet it must be compared to a small 4 stroke gas outboard..
Alec Hemer here’s a vid of my daughter taking the boat out with the Torqeedo. The available remote makes it very easy. The Torqeedo would be perfect for your boat!
OK great. very helpful. Yes. I thought the remote throttle seemed like a good idea for sure. This will be the first time I’ve ever used an outboard on a sailboat. This may seem like a dumb question, but do you use both the boat’s tiller and the outboard’s tiller to steer or just the boat’s?
Not a dumb question at all! I locked the motor straight forward, and for me it worked fine. If you are going to have to make some tight turns into a slip, then you may need to use the OB tiller.
Yes it is a 1003. I sailed it on Lake Michigan. It got me out of the marina, out sailing and back, and I usually had about 70% power left. It was definitely slower than a gas outboard, but it was very quiet and didn’t shake the boat. It may not be adequate if you are going against a current.
OK great. Thanks Robert!
10' cockpit!

Hi, I see you have a Torqueedo motor on your boat. Can you tell me what model it is and if you find it to be adequate?
