As said many times European migrants to this wonderful country have done this since arrival over many generations. I recall my Italian fathers vegetable garden and my Maltese Mum sending me out the back yard to get parsley and vegetables for the daily meals dependent upon what’s available. This all brings back great memories. Another good thing is the ethnic engineering ingenuity of cobbling together garden beds, brackets, trellis, twine, wire, sticks for staking plants, various materials for shade cloth, water catchments apparatus etc. There was no big chain store hardwares or rather why buy when the money should go to necessities like the mortgage to be paid very quickly. What month do we do cuttings for citrus please? I want to get some cuttings from my friend Ivano's parents place in Oakleigh before it is sold in Feb. The orange tree crops heavy and the fruit is seedless and packed with taste! Just magnificent - but sure to be purchased by developers and bulldozed...
