- Randy VanWarmer (sometimes Vanwarmer, Van Warmer; March 30, 1955 - January 12, 2004) was an American singer-songwriter and guitarist. His biggest success was the pop hit, "Just When I Needed You Most". It reached No. 8 on the UK Singles Chart in September 1979 after peaking at No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100 and No. 1 on Billboard Hot Adult Contemporary Tracks earlier that year.
In The Netherlands it reached 6 in the Dutch Top 40 on 21 July 1979.

I remember hearing this song when it was released back when I was in early grade school. Brings back a ton of memories and going back to an entirely different time and world. Randy was a tremendous talent who passed away tragically way, way too soon.

The only time I heard this song was in the 1981 movie, "Private Lessons" and I never forgot it! I got the soundtrack just for this song. The song fits perfectly in this boy's coming-of-age drama/fantasy. BTW, Earth Wind & Fire's "Fantasy" is there too. ❤
