I’m a junior college official in southwest Ohio. I carefully watched this amateur basketball game twice. I counted 17 charges, 23 hand checks, and 18 holding fouls on Cash in those couple games. I can’t imagine how this guy could be playing in a championship game when he’s unable to play offense or defense without constantly fouling. Although I guess if the refs swallow their whistle it becomes an advantage.

One of the biggest issues with these games as they got more serious is the fouls rule. You essentially get 2 free fouls EVERY POSSESSION before the offensive player benefits in any way... so if someone blows by you, gets to the rim or shoots something in rhythm there is 0 reason not to foul. Would make more sense to have 5/6 fouls each game after which the other player gets a ft each foul after that. Then they'd have to be smarter about fouling or not fouling

The officiating in fact was VERY one sided and the only reason the games weren’t over quickly. Cash was allowed to charge and hack most of the time, then was also bailed out repeatedly when MK played clean straight up defense. Cash had 14 extra possessions on nonsense touch foul calls that went against MK. Really bush league officiating. Looked like the ref was in the tank for Cash.

The officiating in fact was VERY one sided and the only reason the games weren’t over quickly. Cash was allowed to charge and hack most of the time, then was also bailed out repeatedly when MK played clean straight up defense. Cash had 14 extra possessions on nonsense touch foul calls that went against MK. Really bush league officiating. Looked like the ref was in the tank for Cash.
