I have just started doing clean mama the last month and here’s what helps me (and I work outside the home and am gone 11hr a day)
1- recruit help to clean bathrooms. If all 5 of your bathrooms are being used, then give the other people if your home a responsibility to clean some. Or if you want to do it all yourself, then rotate which bathrooms you clean each week. Maybe only 2 get cleaned per week and you rotate through.
2- the routine says Wednesday vacuum and then Thursday mop, most of my house is wood or tile and we have kids/dog so I can’t vacuum one day and mop the next, so I split my house. Half I vacuum/mop Wednesday and the other half gets done Thursday. Also have found a stick vacuum makes the vacuum portion super quick, and microfiber mop or steam mop makes the mop portion super quick.
3- a daily task is laundry, so just make a weekday your sheets day
4- the weekly task of dusting is just dusting, not polishing (that’s a rotating task). So if you’re quick at dusting you could do a different task that day also to catch up
5- I meal plan and do my car on Friday
A big thing I like about clean mama is she says just do what you can do, it doesn’t have to be perfect! I think different methods work for different people, I have tried fly lady in the past and couldn’t keep up with daily swish and swipe for whatever reason! And different seasons of like might make a particular system easier/harder and we have to switch back and forth between systems.

I really like that you have made it work for you. After trying so many different routines, I I am learning that all of them need to be modified a little to fit with my life. Thank you so much for the quality suggestions to help me and everyone else embrace Clean Mama. I truly LOVE how you break it down. I have been on the fence about changing things up!

This is how my granny taught me how to clean, each day a different task, but we are in Germany and don't have the big houses people in the States have. When you clean a small house or an apartment, zone cleaning doesn't make much sense, because it is ridiculous to pull out the vacuum and vacuum 20 sqm, then put it away, then mop, put the mpo away and than pull out the whole gear again the next day to clean 30 sqm room. It is much easier to dust the whole flat, pull out the vacuum once to hoover the entire 70 sqm and so on.

I tend to agree with a person who wrote before, Clean Mama works really well for apartments, I can’t speak for a large house. Checking floors is a daily task. It doesn’t ask you to sweep and mop in one day. Also, I like that it’s just a cleaning system, I like to make my own routines for keeping up with friends/ family, food shopping, and cooking. I personally don’t need those things from a cleaning system.

I wash bedding on dusting day. Towels get washed while I clean the bathrooms. After a few weeks, the actual cleaning goes very quickly as it builds on itself. It’s important to know that if something isn’t dirty…you don’t have to clean it!

I didn’t buy the program…but I’ve figured it out by the printable and videos.

@@TodaywithTerriK I am a member of homekeeping society and I bought her book simply clean. I LOVE the book and the society has been a good place to get additional tips, etc. I do plan to exit it after this year because I just don’t use it much anymore - and you get a lot more printables and monthly work toethers with Becky thru the FB group. To be honest - I also do a hybrid of clean mama and fly lady - and I am in the middle of an major downsize move so I will be re-adjusting my system again after I move. I too love the aesthetic of clean mama and her book gives so many plans for different types of cleaning routines such as - 30 min speed clean, 30 day refresh, etc. I also like that there are monthly themes. I do think she has much less structure than flylady so you have to figure out how to create that for yourself. Both have their value - the only aspect of clean mama I really don’t like is the separate sweep and mop day - I have dogs - needs to be done on one day - so I’d rather split the house in 2 and do that part over two days. I also added kitchen tasks to my dailies - Monday microwave, Tuesday toaster oven, etc - i condensed everything into Monday-Friday and the daily - counters - automatically includes dishes for me :)

Definitely seems like the flylady system is more doable if you have a baby or a busy day! I just don’t have that much time every day to clean!!!

I don't like the idea of using Polish for surfaces - adding so much toxicity to your home. If you are dusting and polishing once a week a damp cloth should be enough.

She probably means 10 minutes for a bathroom. I thought the same thing, 10 minutes to do the daily tasks?! Takes me 10 minutes just to get the laundry in and switched let alone sweep under table, put clutter away and wipe all the counters bath and kitchen but I'm trying to use my robe vac more and move faster. Also, who doesn't have a junk email these days. Get yourself one girl. Save a couple bathrooms for Friday catch all. Are you using all 5 bathrooms, lol. Lordy no ma'am. Unless you got 10 people living there. I am just transitioning to clean mama from fly lady. Loved Fly lady when I was a stay at home mom. Clean mama feels more one and done. Nobody working full time with 2 hours of traffic has time for zone cleaning. I need my whole house clean by Saturday.

Commuting is the worst! Clean Mama really is a great program and I’m taking parts of clean mama and parts of flylady to make my own routine. Neither are perfect.

Wow 5 bathrooms is a lot. It’s like you’re cleaning two -three homes. Why would cleaning such a huge home fall onto one person? It’s the responsibility of everyone to help I think.

It’s 2 full baths and 3 half baths but yes the kids should be doing a better job of helping!

My whole house is tile so I split the mopping into two. Half on vacuum day and half on mop day.

I just tried out GoCleanCo and they say toss the broom and grab a stick vac. It’s way faster. I, however, have a really old and heavy Kirby so that’s not so easy.
